hi @meini, thanks for the note. I was starting with that however I got too busy launching my site so I put that on hold, more like dropped the ball on it really. I will be in dire need of such plugin though in the near future so I hope somebody picks it up. I actually also requested this as a feature, ideally it should be core function. Cheers.

what a glaring bug! At the time I obviously didn’t fully grasp filtering. Line 42 needs to return the passed value, not true. I’ve updated the plugin.

Got it, the culprit.
BuddyPress Announce Group <- this plugin was missing things up. Making add a reply and post new topic appear for non logged in users.

Actually I noticed this should be default BP behavior, and did check my child theme files and they do check if user is logged in (using if is_user_logged_in() ). However for some reason this is getting overriden and the add reply / post new topics forms still show. Any ideas guys?
