Have you gone through basic troubleshooting like changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress?

Go to Network Admin dashboard panel menu > Plugins > Installed and activate BuddyPress plugin.

Btw, if you’re activating this on live site, remember to backup database and server files first.

The BuddyPress menu would be in the Netork Admin panel dashboard menus

What WP theme are you attempting to make compatible with BuddyPress?

If you’re on BP 1.5.3, upgrade to BP 1.5.3.1 via FTP/cpanel/etc if you cannot access wp-admin.

If you’re already on BP 1.5.3.1, what other plugins have you activated?

The “existing bbPress install” is about the internal bbPress integration, Forums for Groups, and not the bbPress plugin, aka Sitewide Forums. So looking for bb-config.php doesn’t apply in your case.

You have no forums/topics created in the link you gave above. In any case, whether it’s Group Forums or Sitewide Forums, just go to the Topic page and click on the Edit link. Delete the tags.
