There was this group creation management tip, haven’t checked it’s working in current BP though.

BP 1.5 beta1 has “swich” where group creation can be restricted to Super Admins only

BP Template Pack will transfer BP template files over to your active WP theme. Then you will need to impose HTML structure of WP theme onto BP template files.

Did you also add define ( 'BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG', true ); to wp-config.php?

You will need to activate the BP Template Pack plugin to make your WP theme compatible with BuddyPress.

First, ask users to check if activation email went to spam folder. If not, wome webhosts have problem with WP mail. Some have used this plugin successfully https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/

Could be theme or plugin conflict. Have you tried changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress to troubleshoot?
