Checked in test install and disabling forums in General Settings hides any instance of any link to forums in member or group. What WP/BP versions are you one? If you change to bp-default theme, does same behavior apply?

Change your maximum file upload size to a number higher than WP default of 2MB

Are you talking of the default internal Forums main directory page or the Global Forums plugin main directory page?

Are you using bp-default theme or child theme of bp-default or a custom theme?

Something’s getting lost in translation. Do you mean that you have three registered members but they are not listed in members page?

Depends on your webhost actually. Some had to use a plugin to make mail work https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/ and I’ve read others use this https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mail-from/

http://testbp.org/ is a clear representation of a default install of BuddyPress as noted in Codex. And the wall/wire was in the core of BuddyPress plugin pre-BP 1.2 version. Don’t know why it was removed.
