Thanks all. So what if I don’t care about my existing forum topics and posts and just want to move from Group Forums to the Sitewide forums? Would it be as easy as hitting “Uninstall Group Forums” and then “Install Site Wide Forums?”
Thanks for the explanation. But why do we have the option for sitewide forums available in 1.5?
Disregard. Maybe I should read the codex first. For others, simply insert

in the style sheet of your child theme, just under “Template: xxx”
I also want to thank ruthlessbookie. That plugin finally did the trick. This problem was driving me nuts.
I use Bluehost and will check with them per Andy’s suggestion above. But this must be an issue with a lot of folks. Is there a way to make sure it will work is a host doesn’t support smtp.
Figured it out. Newbie error.
Thanks David! That worked. Deep bow of appreciation.
Anyone have any suggestions on where I should look on this? I really need to have this functionality back.
Thanks, Marty
DJPaul, what was the bug? I’m still struggling with this one.
Sorry, I do have 1.2.1. Any suggestions?
Further update. I discovered the adminbar.css that is in the bp-sn-partent/_inc/css file lacks most of the !important comands that is found in the adminbar.css in bp-default/_inc/css file. So I included replaced the file in the child theme and also added an @import url(“../childtheme/_inc/css/adminbar.css”) in the style.css of the themes for secondary blogs.
Admin bar now displays properly on all blogs and dashboards.
Still haven’t figured out the problem with “log in” in the adminbar on secondary blog sending me to the mainblog homepage. So any help with that is appreciated.
Okay, update. I actually cut and pasted the adminbar css into the secondary blog theme’s style.css. So the bar is displaying properly now.
However, on the secondary blog, I’m still shown as logged out (even though logged in as admin on the main site). When I click the log in link on the secondary blog, it takes me back to the main site.
That’s not how it worked under the old two theme system. Any help?
IE 7 at work and Firefox 3.0 at work; IE8 and Firefox 3.5 at home.
Okay, update. I noted the problem above on my computer at my dayjob. At home, the functionality seems to work. Is it possible that my network at work is preventing the js from working?
I gave up on the secondary blog.
Still having trouble with auto-complete. Will write a separate post.
Hi DJPaul —
I cut and pasted this URL from my page source:
And it returned this file: jquery.autocomplete.js
Here’s the top of it.

Sorry. I searched yesterday but didn’t find this related and unresolved issues. Sounds similar to mine. Any thoughts?

yes, i did set the BP_ROOT_Blog
The reason is that we are primarly a magazine site and we’ve tweaked our theme accordingly. I though moving to secondary blog would allow for easier integration of the new fuctionality and I don’t mind two different (but similar) themes.
I tried assigning several folks on the main blog as subscibers to the secondary blog. But no luck.
Oh, and I’m using a slightly modified version (some CSS changes) of the default them on the secondary blog (www.threesheetsnw.com/raftup).
May I ask a possible dumb question? I’ve upgraded to 1.1.1 on 2.8.4a and am using a premium theme for my main blog. I’ve currently reverted back to the old BuddyPress theme system for now.
Here’s my question, can I leave my Premium WordPress theme as the Parent theme, create a child, and place the bp-sn-parent folders and the “optionsbar.phpâ€Â, “userbar.php†and “plugin-template.php†in the child theme? Also place header.php in the child with the appropriate code for the usernav bar? And then edit the appropriate css?
Is that a workable and effective approach?
Many thanks.

Hello,
I am using WooTheme’s Newsport on a WPMU 2.8.4a install with BuddyPress 1.1.1 (www.threesheetsnw.com).
I’d like to spend some time this weekend integrating BuddyPress 1.1.1 into my theme and was wondering if anyone had any more thoughts on the best approach.
Sepecifically, should I hack Newsport theme and add the Buddypress Templates (as recommended by BuddyPress) or …
Create a child theme, leaving Newsport alone, and including the BuddyPress templates in that child (as recommended by Detective above)?
I know that WooThemes use frameworks for its themes.
Thanks much for helping with this brave new world!
Marty
Doh! Thanks Jeff. Yes, it was user error on this one. I had the “Forum Support” disabled on the “Component Setup” page. After enabling, the “Forums Setup” appeared where it should be. Many apologies for posting this one.
Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas what I can do to fix it?
Upgrading to 1.1.1 fixed it for me, too. Thanks.
Check my error logs and don’t see anything amiss — just an error when I first install the upgrade and was getting it integrated into my theme.

@Jamesatwholelifewholeworld — thanks for the kind words.
