In reply to: Add xprofile fields to WordPress edit user profile
You can show the bp profile fields loop and then write a custom save. Not too difficult but a little work.
In reply to: Create private membership site with BuddyPressuse bp-custom for buddypress code. You preserve you edits if you decide to change or update a theme.
In reply to: Big Akismet ProblemsWhat version are you running?
In reply to: Responsive Theme Set Up Helpregister and activate redirect unless you are logged out
In reply to: Can Group admin publish as "The Group"?I would not use the current activity post form. I would create a group extension and have a private submit form for admins only.

Sample code to show how to add activity:

code to swap avatar from user to group:
In reply to: Changing the @mentin ID ?Try this plugin. http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-username-changer/
In reply to: Get buddypress username or single activity pagebp_activity_get_permalink( bp_get_activity_id() )
activity items do not link to users page, think of them as single blog posts
In reply to: Can Group admin publish as "The Group"?It would take a bit of coding to accomplish this. Others have wanted a method how Facebook pages work for groups. No plugin exists yet for this. You would need to dig into the activity update code and override it.
In reply to: Add tab & screen function to Groups DirectoryI posted something in regards to this on trac. The directory is really specific in it’s content. The entire tab system is hard handed in controlling the display via javascript. The javascript only knows how to process a loop. if you add a tab and click it the js only knows how to reload the loop. There is no logic for displaying other content, yet.
I say yet because I think it can be improved to allow non-loop content to be shown when a tab is clicked.
stay tuned….
In reply to: Add tab & screen function to Groups DirectoryThose tabs are not added with code they are written into the html /bp-default/groups/index.php
if you want to add a tab you use this and echo html for a tab:
`add_action( ‘bp_groups_directory_group_filter’ );`
then you use to display a page based on the slug
`if ( $bp->current_component == BP_GROUPS_SLUG && $bp->current_action == ‘name-of-tab’ ) {
//create functions to show content
add_action( ‘bp_template_title’, ‘bp_example_screen_one_title’ );
add_action( ‘bp_template_content’, ‘bp_example_screen_one_content’ );//this loads a special template file to show content
bp_core_load_template( apply_filters( ‘bp_core_template_plugin’, ‘plugin-file-location’ ) );}`
In reply to: Bit confused about BP aggregationIf you have site tracking checked in the BuddyPress settings blog posts will get posted to the activity stream. This does not post to Twitter. Posting to Twitter from many sites on a WP install requires you to activate a Twitter posting plugin on every site. There is no specific BuddyPress plugin. A plugin could be created to hook into the activity stream and send Tweets when a blog post gets added to the activity stream.
In reply to: Using BP Member Profile Data outside members sectionUse:
bp_displayed_user_id
bp_loggedin_user_idOr you use the WP post author id if you want to show profile data on post or bbPress topics.
This really needs a function with logic. Example, bp_user_id() could give you id based on content.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()Google it. It’s been posted here so many times with a myriad of solutions.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()And I may add it is not hackish at all. It’s the correct way.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()Those classes are not moving. It’s a function that attaches to WordPress core css body classes.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()Post a request for an enhancement on the trac and it may or may not get added. It’s a trivial request when there are already methods to accomplish what you want. If users want enhancements the best way is to code it youself and submit a patch. That is how open source software works. Anyone can contribute.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()The function is not to to test if it’s a single activity item. It’s true if its the permalink for it. There is a difference. But whst you want to accomplish is based on body class easily filterable as I shown. Avatar size easily changed as well. I’m giving you options that you can use now. You can always hack the core and write in your own filter and if it’s solid then submit it has an enhancement to the core.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()That function can not have filter because it is true or mot based on one thing. You can alter the avatar size by using the define I mentioned above or editing the entry.php file and give the avatar an argument.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()The different look of single activity is nothing more than css specified by a body class. This function will show you how to add the single css class to different activity streams.
`function my_custom_class() {
if( bp_is_activity_component() ) {
$class = array(‘activity-permalink’);
return $class;
}
}
add_filter( ‘bp_get_the_body_class’, ‘my_custom_class’);`In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()Well, I leave you to break it then 😉
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()You need to explain better what you want to accomplish because the only difference of a permalink activity and one in a loop is avatar size. You can make the avatar any size you want using defines or passing arguments to avatar
`define ( ‘BP_AVATAR_THUMB_WIDTH’, 50 );
define ( ‘BP_AVATAR_THUMB_HEIGHT’, 50 );
define ( ‘BP_AVATAR_FULL_WIDTH’, 150 );
define ( ‘BP_AVATAR_FULL_HEIGHT’, 150 );
define ( ‘BP_AVATAR_ORIGINAL_MAX_WIDTH’, 640 );
define ( ‘BP_AVATAR_ORIGINAL_MAX_FILESIZE’, $max_in_kb );`In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()Forcing a function true when it’s not is bad. In the members loop it calls the single activty file you can duplicate that file, rename it and then change the markup. Avatars take arguments to specify size.
In reply to: New filter request for bp_is_single_activity()Are you wanting a bigger avatar in the activity loop?
In reply to: Totally private Buddypress sitePlugins usually get abandoned because the developer has no benefit on maintaining them. You can try to fix one of the free plugins or google a bit. Private sites have been talked a bunch and there are many solutions. I am working on a paid plugin that has privacy features with custom login/register pages that privatize a site. Will be available next week.
