In reply to: Not exactly "a few easy clicks"
If you post in a group and then switch it private. The old activity does not get hidden. Same if you post in a hidden group and then make group open. The old activity will be hidden.
In reply to: i need style.css for buddypress.1.6.2.zipYou do not install BuddyPress through the WordPress theme upload. Upload or install the plugin via the plugin upload or add new. Then you choose the BuddyPress theme via Appearance > themes

In reply to: IS BuddyPress WordPress 3.5 ReadyYou should set up a test environment if you plan on running a BuddyPress site. Test versions/plugins. current bp has a few minor issues with 3.5.
In reply to: Menu tab issueYou do not need to create a component for simple code tweaks. The skeleton plugin is an example of how you would create a new feature.
In reply to: Menu tab issueNo. Bp-custom does not require a plugin header
In reply to: Menu tab issuePlace custom code in file bp-custom.php and place file in the plugins folder.

no quotes when an ID
quotes when slug or page title

But I’d write your code using a category:
in_category( ‘public’ )
This way you can add whatever pages you want to show via admin
In reply to: How to remove header image in BP columns?read here on how to remove header
define( ‘BP_DTHEME_DISABLE_CUSTOM_HEADER’, true );
In reply to: Mobile versionfunctions.php is the proper place for code that affects the theme
In reply to: Disabling Home page groupsYou would need to wrap the activity form in an if ( is admin ) statement
As for removing activity from groups, google around this has been discussed plenty.
In reply to: Mobile versionIf you want to turn off the responsive css
function bp_head_action() {
remove_theme_support( ‘bp-default-responsive’ );
}
add_action( ‘bp_head’, ‘bp_head_action’);No plugin but its a good idea. You would have to code this yourself. If you know php it’s not terribly hard to add this feature.
In reply to: Inconsistencies1.7 template files are completly new. I wouldn’t worry unless you are not going to upgrade

In reply to: IP address shows in user profileIt’s normal in forums to show ip address. Basically it’s telling the user that if you spam we know your ip and will ban you.
In reply to: Fan Page Component buddypressThere is no fan page component. You can rename groups to fanpage or pages. Look through codex on how to change text
