In reply to: Changing slugs with bp-custom.php: No change!
The BP-custom way was for older versions before BP used WP pages for directories

In reply to: Changing slugs with bp-custom.php: No change! To change slugs you change the page name and URL for that page in the WordPress admin. To change all instances of the word you create a language file
In reply to: Changing the Forum tab to another nameUse BP extended settings plugin. Has option to rename tabs
BuddyPress only works on one blog, blog id 1. You need to create pages that will show directories for each BP component on that blog. You do not need to create these pages on every blog. BP will register content created on other blogs in your MU install and add posts to the activity stream.
In reply to: Suitability of BuddyPresshttps://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-group-reviews
This works like the plugin reviews on this site. Example: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-xprofile-custom-fields-type/reviews/
You can turn groups into “Studios” by creating a language file and changing all instances of Group/Groups to Studio https://codex.buddypress.org/translations/

In reply to: Before Installing: WPTouch ProI wouldn’t use the bleeding edge 1.7 it’s still got a bunch of work.
In reply to: Before Installing: WPTouch ProWP touch doesnt have the theme files to work with BuddyPress.
Options are to use a responsive theme, create your own custom solution or use https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-mobile
WP Touch might work with BP 1.7 as BP 1.7 will use page templates to output markup. 1.7 is probably at least a few months away.
function bp_my_groups_redirect() { setcookie('bp-groups-scope', 'personal'); return '/groups'; } add_filter('login_redirect', 'bp_my_groups_redirect');In reply to: Best beginning tutorials? This is a known issue with BP menus. We are working on solutions for better menu managment. The community is working on BP 1.7
This version will allow better integration into any WP theme. The menus are getting changed to vertical menus to better fit multiple menu items more efficiently.
I’m also working on a solution to use the admin menu system to manage user menus. There isn’t much you can do at this point aside from removing items
In reply to: [Resolved] Adding BP to WP. Do I need MU first? No. BP works on single WP
In reply to: user activity share plugin for wordpress buddypress? From the WP codex:
`Hook to WordPress
After your function is defined, the next step is to “hook” or register it with WordPress. To do this, call add_action() in the global execution space of your plugin file:add_action ( ‘hook_name’, ‘your_function_name’, [priority], [accepted_args] );
where:hook_name
The name of an action hook provided by WordPress, that tells what event your function should be associated with.
your_function_name
The name of the function that you want to be executed following the event specified by hook_name. This can be a standard php function, a function present in the WordPress core, or a function defined by you in the plugin file (such as ’email_friends’ defined above).
priority
An optional integer argument that can be used to specify the order in which the functions associated with a particular action are executed (default: 10). Lower numbers correspond with earlier execution, and functions with the same priority are executed in the order in which they were added to the action.
accepted_args
An optional integer argument defining how many arguments your function can accept (default 1), useful because some hooks can pass more than one argument to your function. This parameter is new in release 1.5.1.`You would need to change the priority
Probably. Test it out.
If you do not specify an image Facebook scrapes page and finds first image. You have to put meta tags in header.
