@MrMaz I’ve been looking at your plugin and have watched the last 3 “major” updates. This plugin has most of the ability to do what I would like it to do and is designed well for it’s purpose, but ultimately was designed for a different purpose than I would like to use it for.
I would like you (or someone) to consider a branch plugin that would…[Read more]

@mrmaz , Could you please revise the Create a Link page. Categories are smushed together and like Microsoft Notepad when text isn’t wrapped to the page. It makes it difficult for users to add links in an orderly way.
Instead, could each category be on a new line? Thank you.

@MrMaz Hi,
Paul Hasting has suggested that I sent you the following:
The City of Montréal (Québec-Canada) is testing an instance of BP for use in its IT intranet (400 users) and, if successful, this tool will be extended to our 15 000 users.
We have a (very small) development team on the project and wish to add several useful features, such a…[Read more]

Hi @MrMaz! Good to see you back again. I have many ideas to improve BP Links. Imho @Travel-Junkie‘s idea about premium version is very good. I think that this method of monetization will encourage users to pay. And i personnaly want to buy premium version, if they will be somethime in the future and will cost 10-30$. […]

@MrMaz I am grateful to you and the rest of the community for all the contributions that are made free of charge. This is extremely important to help startups get going, and it’s one of the elements that make WP/BP such a popular, successful and powerful combination. However, I do believe a paycheck is eventually due […]

@MrMaz Hey Marshall.
I’m trying to make the ‘Links’ page my home/index page and take it down off the menu at the top. Much in the same way Buddypress allows you the option of putting the Activity Stream on the home page. Any thoughts on how to do this most effectively?
Thanks!
– Mark

You can make any page you want the home page by assigning a custom template to a WP page and selecting that page as your front page. Here’s how to make the BP-Links directory your home page:
1 – Add the following at the top of buddypress-links/themes/bp-links-default/index.php
“
2 – Upload that index.php file to the root your active…[Read more]-
Oh crap! Code doesn’t post in activity stream… lemme try again without brackets:

Template Name: Links-BP

?Make sure to add the appropriate brackets to the first and last lines!

@MrMaz Greetings MrMaz!! Great job!
But i have a question to ask: Is buddypress links works only on firefox?
I’ve tested it on safari and chrome. Although it seems to grab the page details, the js box doesn’t show when i press “fetch page details”. I tested it also on two separate buddypress ‘clean’ installs just in case..same result.

@MrMaz Hi MrMaz,
Just curious, on average, how long does it take to get a response to a support question? I see that many seem to go unanswered. I posted a couple, but no responses. I realize people are busy and I am probably asking something that someone else has solved, but I’ve been sifting through the threads most of the day, and I’m a bit…[Read more] -

@MrMaz Hello, I created a tweet button plugin and want to get it to work with buddypress links. The issue is your plugin doesn’t update the view link to link to the actual content but to the permalink page. Blog posts, forum posts and updates all link to the actual content. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
-
Now that I have been messing with it I think it’s a BP usability issue. On blog and forum posts activity stream notices when you click view it sends you to the actual content but other things go to the activity permalink page.
-
Yes, the BuddyPress permalink thing is a usability headache. One of the first things we have to do when building a site is remove the “view” links, usually before the client clicks on them and tells us they don’t do anything.
-
I agree: those permalink views are a pain in the butt. Can you clue me in on how to remove the links?
