I created the bp-custom.php with the code you mentioned and dropped it into the plugins folder and nothing happened.

What am I doing wrong here or do you have any other suggestions??

ok we are running Version 3.5.1 of wordpress and buddypress Version 1.5.6 and just tried to upgrade to 1.7 by uploading zip file and got message install failed… tried several times

we also have buddyboss and buddystream 2.6.1 installed
