| WordPress Origin Story | It was 2004, I had my blog on Movable Type and they announced changes to their licensing. I decided to look for an alternative. At that time, a lot of folks were moving from Movable Type to WordPress and they were writing about how easy it was. I moved my blog to WordPress and never looked back again. I never thought WordPress would eventually become my main source of income. For the next few years, I used WordPress to run my own blogs. This gave me expertise, I learned PHP and became able to modify themes and write tiny plugins for my own needs. People started asking me how to do things with WordPress. I loved helping people out and found it to be very rewarding as well as educational. I started writing for some WordPress specific blogs and answered questions on Quora and WordPress.org. This led me to my current full time job working as the technical writer for the largest and most popular WordPress resource site. I spend all my time writing about WordPress, themes, plugins, and how-to articles. WordPress helped me find a career, work from home, travel, and become friends with the most talented and amazing people from different parts of the world. |
