jjj,
thanks for the plugin but i can’t get to my bbpress admin when i use the deep integration code. using buddypress 1.0.3, wpmu 2.8.5.2 and bbpress 1.0.2. I have gone all five pages of this thread and tried everything everyone has suggested but whenever i put in the deep integration code i get redirected back to my blog’s homepage. if i take the code out i can access bbpress admin just fine. i have subdomains for my blogs but have forums on a subdirectory.
If there have been any further updates pls advise
jeff or anyone else,
i tried adding the tables myself and they show up and work just fine but it didn’t resolve my issue so i’m gonna assume i need to do what suggests in this thread but i want to confirm the steps and order of those steps. pls confirm these are the steps and order to remove buddypress and reinstall manually for a website that has been in production for awhile but recently upgraded to wpmu2.8.4a and bp1.0.3. i have data and members that i need to save.
1. Read the ReadMe file
2. Backup database
3. Backup themes, plugins, wp-config, .htaccess and entire site, etc…..
4. deactivate buddypress
5. delete the bp directory
6. manually delete the bp tables in the database (tables that begin with bp_)
7. manually install bp
8. do this https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/site-wide-activity-widget-not-working#post-22156
is that all?
fuzzyman,
i never got an answer so i just deleted that piece of buddypress so i didn’t have some functionality showing that didn’t work.
thanks jeff,
I’m not questioning your reply here but there was another time I had installed bp and some tables were not created. I found a thread in these forums where someone had a similar issue and posted the SQL needed to just simply create the missing tables. I am only missing wp_bp_activity_user_activity and wp_bp_activity_user_activity_cached.
So wouldn’t it be easier if you or a database/SQL person could just help me out with the code to create those two tables. I’m thinking it would save me a lot of time and problems cause that’s the only issue I’m having right now. Who knows what I could screw up deactivating and reinstalling bp manually.
Thanks buddy, let me know.
Ricky
thx jeff. in order to do this correctly would you mind helping me out with the the steps to do this? i seem to have found a few threads about doing this and I just want to make sure i do it properly so nothing breaks. i understand how to deactivate but then do I just upgrade manually or do I need to remove or delete the older version of buddypress? thanks for your help.
some time back when i first installed bp, some of the db tables failed to be created and i followed directions in a thread on this forum and created them in sql. but the first couple of blogs that i set up prior to running the sql show no member blog created just like yours. flipping the privacy options don’t correct the problem. they just don’t show up under the profile page at all.
but the posts show up on sitewide posts for some reason
i can email you a screenshot if you like
@jeff, correct it’s not there. in my php myadmin view the db tables are in alpha order and the order goes like this:
wp_bp_activity_sitewide
wp_bp_firends
wp_bp_groups

arghagain,
thx for the advice and I will do that going forward. any idea on how i can fix this issue? should I uninstall and upgrade manually? would that work better you think?
i think i lost jeff. anyone else know what’s going on here? pls respond.
Jeff,
Thanks for the quick response. I used the plugins page to upgrade. I went straight from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 using the plugins page. I’ve never gone into trac to upgrade.
devweb,
any response to this question or did u figure it out? i can’t get any members to show up from that damn alphabetical search on the member page. thinking about ditching it
helloooooooo hellooooooooo, echooooooooo
I got the same issue with an upgrade to WPMU2.8.4a and BP1.0.3. Have two issues one is the one mentioned above by Arezki
Hi all: I noticed that the listing of members using the alphabetical feature is not working. When you go to: http://tatazara.com/members and try any letter like F or S for Francis Stevenson, you get the link: http://tatazara.com/members#f but the page stays at /members directory. Any thought?
and the other is that is gives me the ‘ol:
No members found. Members must fill in at least one piece of profile data to show in member lists.
error that othe threads have brought up.
I upgraded to bp1.0.3 to get rid of the second issue per Andy’s instructions in a previous thread, but that didn’t help.
the groups and blogs alpha directory work just as advertised but not the member alpha directory. yes, people have entered info into profile fields. the member search function works fine.
Anyone got an idea about this? Could it be something with the different types of name fields?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
i think i have cooties cause i hardly ever get responses to my posts in this forum. i love buddypress but i don’t ever seem to get much help in here. oh well i think i will just remove the option to upload an avatar from my registration page and resolve my own topic.
so i tried commenting out those two lines and no success with uploading avatars from the registration page. blogs.dir/1 and all of it’s subdirectories permissions are set to 777. any other have any other ideas?
so i removed the premium avatart plugin but still can’t upload from the registration page of buddypress. can anyone please help me out with my question above. what impact would commenting out
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !.*wp-content/plugins.*
RewriteRule ^(.*/)?files/(.*) wp-content/blogs.php?file=$2 [L]have on the rest of my site? why would this be in .htaccess if it’s ok to just comment them out?
thanks
Ah, Andrew over at Premium just advised that I shouldn’t have to use their avatar plugin with BP so I will uninstall that and see if it fixes the problem.
Still would like an answer to the .htaccess question above though.
Thanks
sweet, thx
DJPaul,
I deleted all of the wp_bp tables. I’m not sure what you meant by check the wp_sitemeta table for similarly-named buddypress settings? Could you give me an example of what you are talking about? Here are the meta_keys for the sitemeta table? Anything I need to do or am I good to go with the reinstall?

Thanks DJ. I should have added this other question to my original post.
q3) Do all of the bp tables start as ‘wp_bp_*(table name)? or is their another naming convention i should look for when eliminating?
Thanks again,
Ricky
ok, i got the site up and running again. could someone help me out with the last question.
Also, if I wish to re-install BP at a later date will leaving the tables from your step 4 be an issue with a new install?
I followed the steps above:
Deactivate the plugin
Removed the plugin
Removed theme from public_html/wp_content/themes and from public_html/wp_content
I did not remove the tables from the DB.
I can’t access mydomain.com, it’s just blank. I can however access the admin. Please help.
