changing the bp-loader.php resolved the issue.
I did re-install from admin menu, still the same problem.
Error message upon activation: Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Creede – Could you tell me how did you reinstalled the forum ?
I am using standard buddypress theme and all other plugins are inactive, I don’t have any problem in making them active after upgrade.
If none of this works, I would like activate from backend, can someone tel me where to enable BP from backend ?
Clearly this is broken after 1.2 upgrade. I have same issue, so I logged bug.

Thanks david. I don’t want blog posts on home page as I use custom home page. In top navigation (home, activity, groups, forums etc), how to I add ‘Blog’ and clicking on the link would display blogposts. This is how it used to work in prior to 1.2 upgrade

we need at least blog post search
good question…in old version bp1.1 we have the option to set first-section, second section, third section, blog-sidebar.
In new version I see everything merged into one side bar widget, so we can’t have separate items displayed in groups, forums etc.
Found the root cause.
.htaccess was referring some some other folder where old version of bp (bp1.1) running. After correcting to right path, new template is working for groups, forums.
may related to my issue. even though my post says issue occurs in new install, I did notice it is happening in both new install and upgrade.

enforcing to create groups to create a forum doesn’t seem to be right. We should have flexibility to create forums, groups, separately or together. That makes it ideal for different needs.
when I just upgraded from 1.0.3 to 1.1 it just worked fine without ‘blog’ in url path.
Still an issue in new 1.1 install.
after DJPaul update on bugtrac, I checked the test site testbp.org, I found the rootcause of this issue and a possible workaround.
In my permalink settings I removed the ‘blog’, so my setting is
domain.com/subdirectory/post-id/post-name
If I change the permalink to below to include ‘blog’ it works just fine.
domain.com/subdirectory/blog/post-id/post-name
stwc – can you confirm if this trick works for you ?
changed the status to ‘resolved’
agree…this is a bug that must be fixed for BP 1.1
