Thanks!
Found this:
Under Dashboard > Buddypress > General Settings > Disable Avatar Uploads ??
= I changed that to NO
Now the user has 2 options : 1) Use Gravatar or
2) Upload own photo from his /her PC
Think that works better for my site.
Thanks – will try it now.
Thanks Ray – I am able to create an .mo file with Poedit , but struggling with the step that says that you need command line access??
I am using filezilla – not sure if that is the best program?
Thanks – that’s great , just tested it and it works!!
Just one question now – where do you change the wording of the right-hand column for login in buddypress 1.2.1 to say : “email or username ” ??
Peter , yes to both questions.
As the username comes up in the user’s URL , some users might prefer usernames and others might prefer emails.
Would be nice to give the user an option.
Thanks
Sweller , bit confused now….
Do you just have to replace the 3 lines that relate to “username” in your register.php , with the line you provide and not do anything else?
Would this still work with 1.2?
Think maybe I am not getting it right because of BP 1.2?
Hi, I think I’ve done everything correctly.
On my register page – the username is removed , but when I say “complete sign-up” , the page just remains on the register page and no registering takes place.
I used normal windows notepad to create the javascript file and saved it in my registration folder of my own theme.
Don’t know?
Getting the same error when I want to activate the plugin.
Had the same problem yesterday.
I went into my Mozilla history and went to the last time I was logged into admin.
The only thing I installed yesterday was Gigya plugin , not sure if it might come from there.
You should come right
Hi, not really sure what either of those are
But it is added to sign-up page and then shown under the users’ profile.
Hi,
Thanks , Ok will do it from Buddypress.
197 Countries in a drop-down list will take a bit of time=)
Just one question – how do you change “name” to “full name” , because I don’t think you can edit that from Buddypress menu area?
Awesome!
Thanks – exactly what I wanted to do.
I like it on the right top – just struggling to move it a little to the left – cos the ” Visit” tab covers part of it.
I added style = margin-right:30px – but it is obviously not right as it doesn’t do anything?
Thanks for the help.
Awesome. Thanks!!
Schwoomba,
Actually figured it out the other day – I think.
1)Copy registration.php from buddypress parent theme into your own theme.
2)Paste this into registration.php underneath line 25 (might be different) :
w<label for=”country”><?php _e( ‘Country’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?> <?php _e( ‘(required)’, ‘buddypress’ ) ?></label>
<?php do_action( ‘bp_country_errors’ ) ?>
3) Then install firebug as a Mozilla add-on.
4) Go to a site who’s registration page has a drop-down list that you want.
5) Use firebug and right click on the element you want and say “inspect element”.
4)Say Copy HTML
5)Then past it into your registration.php under the the lines you pasted in step 2
Should work.
You could do this with gender , birthday etc. = Just change “country” in step 2 .
Actually the first time that I’ve given some advice
Hope it helps.
Cool .
Used firepicker just now – and works great!
Thanks guys.
Will do.
Thanks for the quick response!
Thanks man.
Just had a thought – Wouldn’t it be better to rather hide a line ? Just for in case I want to use it in future.
If it is possible please let me know what you need to add to a line to just “hide” it. Maybe I want to use a function in future and it would then be easier to just delete those modifications instead of having to start for scratch. Just a thought.
Not sure if it is possible..
thanks
Thanks guys.
See what you mean : website/members/username
Suppose it would be better then if users just pick there own usernames, as they can then easier remember it.
Thanks for the info!
Would you know how to remove the “username” from the signup form though?
Thanks
Thanks ,man!!
Having a bit of problems with the plugin – but I see in the forum that everyone else is also…
Thanks guys!
Brajesh’s way is probably easier , but I suppose I will have to change it everytime Buddypress updates.
So I think I will try creating a child theme. Not really that knowledgeable , but will give it a try.
Cheers
