Curious, which “patch” did you use? I haven’t had the problem but I’ve seen resolution via Mail From plugin. -

@mercime Hi – I’m having this same problem it seems. When a user registers or if I (as admin) create a user, that user doesn’t receive an email to activate his account.
The SMTP works as I can send newsletters from my account.
I’m using BuddyPress Default 1.2.6
Right now, I’ve checked : ANyone can register so it should be public.

Hi Mark, there’s are free media plugins that are compatible with BuddyPress, like BuddyPress Media nee BP Album+ https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/ as well as others good looking plugins but requires respective API’s and your media is uploaded to their servers – BP Media (Kaltura) and another one Cincopa, I think.
