Goody! I’d like to incorporate this into my new theme framework (coming along nicely…). That is, if you don’t mind credit and some link love 😉
I couldn’t figure out how to do it without the key but, now it looks doable. Thanks a bunch! -

Thanks Michael. That’s what I was going to suggest 🙂 -

Have you checked that everything under “Buddypress” > “Component Setup” in your WP backend is set and active?
Have you setup forums under “Buddypress” > “Forum Setup”? -
pcwriter started the forum topic [Resolved] Sidebars left and right in a fluid theme in the group Creating & Extending: 13 years, 12 months ago
Hi all! I’m trying to develop a fluid child-theme with sidebars on both the left and right. The puzzle I’m faced with is keeping the left sidebar where it should be when the theme width is increased or decreased. In a fixed width theme, it’s a simple matter of giving the left sidebar a negative […]

@modemlooper Thanks for the suggestion. I had looked at some grid frameworks, but didn’t want to go that route for this theme. I’m keeping it in mind for future projects though. @bowromir Bingo! Silly me and my thick head 😉 I was working with fixed-width sidebars. Percentages didn’t even occur to me for them. Your suggestion got […]

Rats! I thought I had it. Putting more widgets in the sidebar to test, another puzzle popped up:
By adding position:absolute; to the sidebar, it no longer increases the height of the content div if it’s longer. Back to the drawing board… 🙁

Lol…
After hours of puzzling this over, I finally ask a question in this forum, and then inspiration hits me.
Solved the puzzle with a simple margin-left:0; and position:absolute; -

I presume you’re asking about the “standard” Buddypress adminbar. Make sure your custom theme has the call to wp_footer in its footer template See here for more:

I just visited and yes, I think you’ve got it!
There’s another problem though: I can’t log out of your site. -
pcwriter posted on the forum topic Nav bar shifts over the page in the group Add All Nav Links to BP Adminbar: 14 years ago
I just created an account on your site to see if I can locate the problem. it appears to be just with Site Activity and Members Activity. I’ll see what i can find (I’m looking through the theme..)
Have you tried with just the Buddypress Default theme to see if the problem still appears?

Still no luck on this dilemma… it’s driving me nuts trying to find the culprit code. Unfortunately, I’m still very wet behind the ears when it comes to code… 🙁
But I’ll keep trying, and maybe I can find some help in other forums. I’ll definitely keep you posted when I find a solution.

WoW! Funny you should ask just now 😉 I just started putting together a site so folks can take BuddyLite Premium for a test drive. It`s got a fully functional backend admin panel (only the BuddyLite Theme Settings are accessible) with all the customization options one could hope for in a theme framework. And, get […]

Dive in! You really do need to have a basic grasp of HTML/CSS if you’re going to get anywhere with WP/BP.
…and don’t forget to allow yourself to have fun while you’re pulling out your hair! 😉 -

In “Community”, I only see Activity, Members and Groups. In “My Account”, I see Activity, Profile, Messages, Friends, Groups, Albums, Settings, Logout (with appropriate subnavs). The Create a Group button is only seen in the Group directory (where it should be), but you can grab the code from groups/index.php and add it to other templates […]

I just created an account on your site and was able to create a group just the way it’s supposed to be done (the “Create a group” button is in the Groups directory).
Forums aren’t enabled yet on your site, are they? You can do that in your WP backend under “Buddypress” > “Forums Setup”. -

Ah yes, child themes are one of the MOST important things to learn when it comes to BP.
Here’s a link to the codex tutorial:

@Tekuan_Coleman Gotcha! Here’s how… 1- Enable “Hide Main Theme Nav”, “Add WordPress pages/menus”, “Add Buddypress components” and “Scroll with pages”. 2 – Go to “Sizes & Position” and adjust the “Overall navbar width” to the width of your template. 3 – Play around with “Vertical offset” and “Horizontal offset” until you get it positioned about […]
