Does not look like you’re using a BuddyPress compatible theme. The default TwentyTen theme is not BP compatible, out of the box. body_class() are being cleared/emptied with BuddyPress activated. This could either be due to controlling over the is_home() parameters or something working with the body_class() function with a filter of BuddyPress’s, either that or if you using the classes your returning a string instead of array.
