@pjfbncil If you deactivate BuddyPress, does the media button show up?

@pjfbncil Contributors and Authors should be able to upload media by default. Have you tried deactivating plugins one by one except BuddyPress and checked which plugin/s might be causing the issue?

@pjfbncil You mean Add Media in the Pages > Add New panel or the Posts > Add New panel? BuddyPress does not remove Add Media button or functionality at all.
