You don’t need to change anything since “activity_update” equates to “Show Updates”. Throw it anywhere in functions.php and see what happens!
Btw, thanks for the nice comment!

r-a-y posted on the forum topic Unable to exclude page from navigation in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 6 months ago
@arxpoetica – That’s possible via the “wp_list_pages_excludes” filter.
You’ll need to return an array of page IDs you want to exclude.
Example code:
http://pastebin.com/HUyVsWSNChange 1,2,3 to page ids you want to omit.

You basically add Boone’s snippet into your theme’s functions.php file. Give it a shot and see what happens.

Locking thread. @queertoday – BP-FBConnect, as Jeff has stated, is an old plugin. The FB plugin that is even recommended by BP is WP-FB-AutoConnect. Unfortunately, there are some things that are not added out of the box like FB avatars. However in the comments section of the plugin author’s page (located at the bottom), there is some code you […]

There’s a bug in the current release, which is fixed in the development 1.2 branch.
In the interim, you can fix this by patching /buddypress/bp-groups/bp-groups-classes.php:

Follow LPH’s advice.
The section you’re looking for is “JS File Management” and “CSS File Management”. Start manually adding JS /CSS files to a group and save. Make sure you apply the .htaccess edits when W3TC prompts you for them.

Code in functions.php only runs on the blog in question.
If you have BP activated sitewide, put the code in /wp-content/bp-custom.php as that will run throughout your install.

Did you add a file called “ms-files.php” to “wp-content”?

Currently, in W3 Total Cache, you have to manually add the JS into a group. Same for CSS.
Make sure you use relative links when adding the JS to a group (eg. wp-content/plugins/xxx/xxx.js)W3 Total Cache v0.9 (currently in development) is said to make this much easier.

If you’re using WPMU or WP 3.0 in network mode, try this: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/ The plugin author hasn’t updated this for single WP yet. A more, manual method involves forwarding the activation emails to an admin account so you can approve them manually that way. Put this sample code in your theme’s…[Read more]

Something simple to check – try looking at the HTML page source to see if the activity reply is actually parsed on the page?
If it is, it could be some CSS rules that’s causing the activity update to be hidden.Also try using the bp-default theme if you aren’t using it already.

I just tried to duplicate your problem on my local install, but couldn’t. Perhaps something else is interfering and causing the redirect? Are you using any BP plugins that handle redirection? Anything in your .htaccess file? Any custom code in your theme’s functions.php? If that fails, you can always set another WP page as the […]

$query_string = '';
if ( ($bp->current_component == BP_ACTIVITY_SLUG || !$bp->current_component) ) {
if ( strpos( $query_string, 'action' ) == 0 )
$query_string .= '&type=activity_update&action=activity_update';
