Okay so now that you have the bbpress-admin plugin disabled, are you able to install the forums normally via “BuddyPress > Forums setup”?
Ask your question about PHPBB > bbPress over on the bbPress forums.

Hey @scotm – That’s not the correct usage. What I meant was copy the the template file I listed above in your child theme and remove everything in it. Then use bp_profile_field_data(‘field=YOURFIELD’); to list only the xprofile fields you want to list (no need to use functions and remove actions here). The other method is using […]

Well, one question you can ask yourself is why you would create the same topic title over and over again?

@scotm – You have control of the template, of course you can remove the “Name” field! 😉

Threads in the forums (which are powered by bbPress) are never actually deleted, they are marked as deleted.
It’s a bbPress thing.

@milleja46 – You’re trying to do an external bbPress install, is that what you want? Did you want to use the internal forums built-in with BuddyPress?
And also, disable that bbpress-admin plugin.

@scotm – Copy /bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/profile/profile-loop.php and modify to your heart’s content!
You can either delete the profile loop and input the information one by one using the technique above, or omit an item by manipulating the profile loop.

r-a-y posted on the forum topic Buddypress for Dummies – is it worth it, or is the best place to learn online? in the group How-To and Troubleshooting: 15 years, 9 months ago
Now this is just my honest opinion, but I wouldn’t get it (this isn’t a slight against Lisa). If you glance the TOC , it’s more of an introduction to BP, which is great if you don’t know anything about WordPress or BuddyPress and you’re just diving in. And, you’re right, you can find most of this […]

Do you have any other BP plugins running (other than BuddyPress)? If so, disable all of them.
Are you using a custom BP theme? If so, use the default. -

Yeah, but then you’d have an influx of stickies from across all the group forums! (Imagine 20+ stickies in the main forum directory!) There’s a thing in bbPress called the super sticky (look it up!). I haven’t digged through the BP forum code to see if such code exists, but I could see this being […]

Did you change these options from the DB? Or through the WP admin interface?
If through the WP admin interface, disable any BP plugins and see if your site comes back.

@stwc – because it’s a sticky. eg. https://buddypress.org/community/groups/requests-feedback/forum/
Would be nice if the site admin could set super stickies.

Get to this screen in your WP admin panel:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Permalinks_SubPanelSet it to “Day and Name”. Save. Check your BP pages and see if they work.
Don’t worry about the .htaccess file for now.

Set your permalinks to something other than the default.
Afterwards, make sure that a .htaccess file is written in your WP root directory. -

If you’re using standard WP, just assign new users the WP role of “Contributor” or higher… that’s it!

It should work on WPMU, just activate the plugin on the blog where BuddyPress is active.
