In reply to: BuddyBar for bbPress
One other bug I encountered when using the BuddyBar was the second-level menus weren’t popping out in bbPress.
I found out that the problem is due to some CSS rules overriding one another.
In /plugins/buddypress/bp-core/css/admin-bar.css, move line 177 under
#wp-admin-bar ul li:hover ul ul, #wp-admin-bar li.sfhover ul li ul {
left: -999em !important;
}So your admin-bar CSS from line 171 should look like:
/* third-and-above-level lists */
#wp-admin-bar ul li ul ul {
margin: -28px 0 0 183px !important;
}
#wp-admin-bar ul li:hover ul, #wp-admin-bar ul li li:hover ul, #wp-admin-bar ul li.sfhover ul, #wp-admin-bar ul li ul li.sfhover ul { /* lists nested under hovered list items */
left: auto !important;
}
#wp-admin-bar ul li.align-right:hover ul {
right: 0 !important;
}
#wp-admin-bar ul li:hover ul ul, #wp-admin-bar li.sfhover ul li ul {
left: -999em !important;
}
#wp-admin-bar ul li:hover ul, #wp-admin-bar ul li li:hover ul, #wp-admin-bar ul li.sfhover ul, #wp-admin-bar ul li ul li.sfhover ul { /* lists nested under hovered list items */
left: auto !important;
}
... and the rest of it hereThat was the case for me anyway! If you’re using a custom admin-bar CSS, make sure you make the change as well.
In reply to: Trying to Run a if group = "this name"Put quotes around your conditional cases.
eg.
if ($localPhone== Brighton || $localPhone==Test Group)to:
if ($localNetwork== "Brighton" || $localNetwork=
"Test Group")See if that works.
[EDIT]
Also $localPhone isn’t defined… you want to use $localNetwork instead.
Hey sorry for not replying.
What did you do here?
Then I edited the Navigation bar source using Dreamweaver so that their buttons will appear in the Navigation bar.
Re-trace your steps, what files did you edit?
Let us know.
In reply to: bbPress 1.0.1 ReleasedI did

But thanks for posting that for others, ipstenu!
In reply to: Add you blog search to the searchI know the code… you’re basically asking to combine two form actions, which is a little complicated without doing some manipulation and coding your own function.
In reply to: Comments won't display on main blogYour code is missing the all-important add_action!
You had the function defined, but nothing is executing it! hehe
Yeah there’s at least three functions in the default bphome theme functions.php that you should copy over.
Just copy the whole functions.php file over from bphome and you should be good to go!
Remember to green light the thread and select “resolved”!
In reply to: Add you blog search to the searchThat’s a little harder because they use two separate form actions.
You could get creative and do a javascript toggle… but I can’t help you with that… at least not with the time I have right now!
Maybe someone can jump in and code something fast.
In reply to: Add you blog search to the searchThe BP search form is generated from the bp_search_form() function.
Short answer is you can’t modify that function.
But you can add this to your BP member theme:
<form method="get" id="searchform" action="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>/">
<label class="hidden" for="s"><?php _e('Search for:'); ?></label>
<div><input type="text" value="<?php the_search_query(); ?>" name="s" id="s" />
<input type="submit" id="searchsubmit" value="Search" />
</div>
</form>Copied and pasted from default Kubrick WP theme.
That should work, but report back and let me know.
In reply to: BuddyBar for bbPressThanks for debugging, matthijsv.
John, Transposh should be added to the readme.txt for known incompatible WP plugins with the BuddyBar plugin.
In reply to: Comments won't display on main blogI think I’ve got it.
Do you have the same functions.php in your “buddypress-home” theme?
This is the code that does the magic:
function bp_show_home_blog() {
global $bp, $query_string;
if ( $bp->current_component == BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG ) {
$pos = strpos( $query_string, 'pagename=' . BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG );
if ( $pos !== false )
$query_string = preg_replace( '/pagename=' . BP_HOME_BLOG_SLUG . '/', '', $query_string );
query_posts($query_string);
if ( is_single() )
bp_core_load_template( 'single', true );
else if ( is_category() || is_search() || is_day() || is_month() || is_year() )
bp_core_load_template( 'archive', true );
else
bp_core_load_template( 'index', true );
}
}
add_action( 'wp', 'bp_show_home_blog', 2 );In reply to: Different user account typesYou can go with Wishlist and let us know how it goes!

The plugins on the link you listed should clearly let someone know if it is WPMU-compatbile or not.
In reply to: BuddyBar for bbPressCool! Glad to see you’re up and running!
In reply to: Comments won't display on main blogOkay I think I can safely say it’s a BP theme issue.
You need to make sure your code is exactly the same as the default wp-content/themes/bphome/comments.php (or wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bphome/comments.php)
Try that.
In reply to: Different user account typesHey Peter,
Those are all WP plugins and not WPMU ones.
I would steer clear of them.
The Supporter plugin I listed is WPMU-compatible (and as far as I know, BuddyPress-compatible, although I haven’t tried or bought it myself! hehe).
The Invite Friends plugin hasn’t been updated for BP 1.0.2 yet.
I just checked Giovanni’s blog (the developer of the plugin) and he says that a new release will be up in a few days.
In reply to: Comments won't display on main blogI can’t access your site at the moment because the DNS isn’t resolving to your website.
Sounds like it could be a BP issue after all, but a lot of other BP sites have comments working fine:
eg. http://simplercomputing.net/bp/blog/buddypress-chat-plugin/
Silly question, do you have comments enabled on the main blog?
In reply to: Different user account typesThere’s a WPMU premium plugin called Supporter, which you can use to achieve two levels. But not three. I think that’s the case, but someone may want to correct me!
Downside is you have to pay to “subscribe” or download these premium plugins @ $79 / month.

Supporter premium plugin:
In reply to: Comments won't display on main blogtwdsje, by the sound of it, I’m guessing you’re using the default WordPress MU home theme.
You can choose a different theme you know!
Do you even have BuddyPress installed?
If you do, select the BuddyPress home theme or some other WordPress theme in the WPMU admin area and you’ll see something entirely different.
That’s the beauty of themes!
In reply to: default to ‘just a username’Hey Peter,
It’s safe, but when upgrading to the newest BP version, you’ll have to remember to make this change again.
Either that, or until some option in the admin area is made.
I’m using BeLogical’s fix plus a CSS hack to hide the “Create a Blog” field right now.

There is no voting system, Peter. Although you can leave a message on the trac:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/835
You can login with your existing BP username and password there.
In reply to: No input file specified.Looks like your BP site is up and running!
What is your problem again?
Are you saying you can’t access the BuddyPress menus in the WPMU admin area?
ht*tp://example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=buddypress/bp-core.php
What happens when you try to go there?

It could be an issue with RewriteRules if you changed the settings in the .htaccess file…
In reply to: Comments won't display on main blogThis doesn’t sound like a BuddyPress issue.
It’s a WPMU issue; to be more specific, it’s a theme issue.
Do you want to show a link to comments or do you want to show actual comments?
There are number of ways to do this… theme hacking or adding a widget which displays the latest comments.
Adding a widget would be the simplest, but it depends on what you want to do.
In reply to: Home Theme and Member Theme troubleshootingbtw, good luck with your conference in November

Oh and be sure to green light this thread… set the thread to “resolved” at the top!
In reply to: default to ‘just a username’Just ran into this issue myself.
Should be an option in “BuddyPress > General Setup”.
I’ll add a trac ticket for this.
[EDIT]
Trac ticket added – https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/835
In reply to: Delete Inactive UsersAs far as I know, there isn’t such a plugin for BP, however there are some for MU.
Did a quick Google search; here’s two promising solutions:
1) https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic/1659
2) http://plugins.paidtoblog.com/wpmu-power-tools/
Just wanted to reiterate that none of these take care of BP though… so you might want to keep this under consideration.
In reply to: BuddyBar for bbPressHmm… some other people use wp-load.php to achieve deep integration, but that drives down performance quite a bit.
If you’re having trouble including wp-blog-header.php, then I don’t know what to tell you!
Something’s definitely up! Are you sure you have no errors in your server log or PHP log?
