Roger is correct.
“hxxp” is a placeholder to prevent hyperlinking to an example domain. If you’re working with a new install, you will not need the avatar code listed in the tutorial.
Try removing the avatar code and see if the error appears again. If you’re making a change to BP_Groups_Groups:get_active(), I would recommend doing what Rich says and coding an alternative group get function by filtering “groups_get_groups” (available in the groups_get_groups() function in bp-groups.php).
That way, you won’t have to hack the bp-groups-classes.php file in the future. It is more work, but it’s up to you.
In reply to: Do not be employed in function buddypressWhat do you mean by this?
“My WP v.2.91 (subdomain WP MU) is integrated with WP MU Buddypress”If you have BuddyPress installed on the WPMU subdomain and you’re trying to use BP code on your single WP install, you can’t as BP doesn’t know about your single WP install.
If you can, I would suggest using your conditional on you WPMU subdomain only.
“Big picture”-wise, you’ll need to think about upgrading to WP 3.0 and think about how you’re going to manage your single WP site and your WPMU network.
In reply to: Activating new member accountHi Sarah,
Try this workaround:

Login to your WP dashboard, navigate to “BuddyPress > Component Setup” and check to see if Groups is enabled.
In reply to: Pics not Showing upThe right place to post your support question for the BP Album+ plugin is here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/forum/It’s definitely not impossible; it’s just no one’s put in the time to post or update one.
Boone’s BP TinyMCE is the most updated one out there, but still needs a bit of work with the activity streams.
In reply to: Remove WordPress version numberThat’s because it’s hardcoded in the bp-default theme (unfortunately).
You can remedy this by creating a child theme with bp-default as the template. Then, copy over bp-default’s header.php and remove the WordPress version meta tag.
In reply to: Using bp_activity_add() to update an activityChange “action” to “content” in Rich’s code.
In reply to: Custom Theme Styling HelpHave you tried using the BuddyPress Template Pack plugin with your existing WordPress theme?
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/Follow the steps closely. You’ll probably need to tweak the CSS styles once you have the Template Pack plugin up and running.
A good CSS debugger is the Firefox plugin, Firebug:
http://www.getfirebug.com/Also, if you need paid help, please post in the BuddyPress Job Board group:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/In reply to: Taking Buddypress Offline onto a USB.MAMP is needed if you’re using a Mac

I would use a WAMP package unless your professor has a Mac, but yes, it is completely possible to have BuddyPress run locally off a USB stick.
First, you’d need to find a MAMP / WAMP / LAMP package that is portable.
Some portable WAMP packages can be found here:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?sc=125Once you have your WAMP server up, you’ll need to install WordPress / BuddyPress. Then, you’ll need to copy your theme files over as well as importing a database dump of your existing BP site.
In reply to: Adding topic tags after topic creation?@pisanojm – Just looked into this… there’s a bit of patching that needs to be done across multiple files to get topic tags on the edit screen working.
I’ve got a preliminary version working on my testbox. Will add a patch in the next day or so. Stay tuned on Trac!
In reply to: Adding topic tags after topic creation?@pisanojm – You should try inputting this in the edit forum post template:
bp-default/groups/single/forum/edit.phpGive it a shot!
In reply to: New Members never get activation emailHi Micah,
Try this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/faqs/specific-faqs/#registerAnd see if that works for you.
In reply to: Is it possible to with BuddyPress? This is more of a WordPress thing, but yes, it’s possible.
Though, I would do it with only one page.
eg. example.com/dashboardNo need to create pages for every single user in your userbase!
I would create a custom page template wrapped around an “is_user_logged_in()” conditional so only logged in users can view it.
Then the admin can add whatever content s/he chooses for the “dashboard” page in the WP Page Admin area.
In reply to: Verified accounts?I don’t think this should be part of Jeff Sayre’s plugin as this has nothing to do with privacy.
Would work well as a simple plugin like techguy says… should be very easy to put something together with usermeta.
In reply to: backslashes not showingYou can try removing the stripslashes filter applied to forum posts.
Add the following to your theme’s functions.php file:
`remove_filter( ‘bp_get_the_topic_post_content’, ‘stripslashes_deep’ );`
Might want to try Cubepoints BuddyPress integration… will probably need to be modified to do what you want.
In reply to: WP-minify and new version of Buddypress@pisanojm – It’s exactly what I wrote two posts above.
Not publically released at the moment. Only available for testing at testbp.org.
In reply to: Community staticsHi, sorry for the late reply.
You’ll have to create your own function that uses a SQL query to grab the count of people matching that particular xprofile field.
For hints, check out any of the functions that uses a SQL query and “count” in /buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-classes.php
In reply to: Redirect BEFORE LoginTry this plugin:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-redirect-to-profile/In reply to: Share Tronix to Buddy PressYou’d have to create your own conversion script.
If Sharetronix offers some type of export functionality, this would probably make things a little easier, though you’d still need to build a script so WordPress / BuddyPress can parse it.
In reply to: Been trying for so long, just got it integrated. You’ll want to use Paul Gibbs’ Welcome Pack plugin for new users to have a bunch of default friends :
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/By default, Welcome Pack sends friend invites; to have the plugin auto-accept friend invitations, read this:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/standard-group-for-new-users#post-69096For your other questions, please post them on the forum.
In reply to: to use Buddypress function in my theme….First, you have to ensure that you have BuddyPress installed and activated.
Next, make sure you are correctly typing in the BuddyPress function you want to use.Without knowing what function you’re trying to use, it’s hard to give further advice.
bp-custom.php might be too early to try the remove_action.
Try adding the snippet in your theme’s functions.php file.
