In reply to: BP Doesnt Show Garvatar or Avatar?
Are you talking about uploading an avatar to buddypress.org?
If so, that’s a known bug on the site.However, you can set your gravatar at gravatar.com and buddypress.org should pick it up.
In reply to: Fatal error with MultiSiteSounds like a problem with your “Suffusion” theme.
Can you switch to the BuddyPress Default theme to see what happens?
In reply to: BuddyPress w/ bbPress & WordPressRe: moving standalone bbPress forums to BuddyPress group forums, I would recommend reading an excellent post by BP moderator, Boone Gorges:
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?@johnwinch42 – If you’re just testing BuddyPress locally, I would just login to PHPMyAdmin and clear out your entire activity table so you won’t have to worry about redirections.
Like you mentioned, once you set the BP_ROOT_BLOG from the onset, you won’t have to worry about redirects whatsoever!
In reply to: user registrationRead this and see if this fixes your problem:

https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2604I believe this will fix your problem, as your subdirectory install is located one level deeper than expected.
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?Have you changed your permalinks to something else?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Permalinks_SubPanelSet it to anything but the default.
In reply to: Members identificationbp_is_member() works better.
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?We can worry about redirects later, but does BuddyPress function well besides the old activity links?
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?Can you try removing the redirect rules from step (4)?
So, at the moment, what do you see when you go to /themainblog/network?
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?Ahh okay, wp-config.php is better actually.
Did you activate BuddyPress network-wide?
Also, did you enable the BuddyPress Default theme on blog id #9?In reply to: How do I add a POT language file to my plugin?First, you have to change all references to the strings you want to localize so your POT file knows where to reference them.
Then, you need to create a POT file.Here’s a quick guide I found on Google using poEdit:
http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2007/08/27/localizing-a-wordpress-plugin-using-poedit/There are others of course!
If you have any Qs, reply back.
In reply to: Have member loginThe sidebar, by default, allows you to login or create an account:
http://testbp.orgAlso, did you enable registration on your BP install?
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/faqs/specific-faqs/#registerIn reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?You’re missing the BP_ROOT_BLOG define.
Can you quicky go over part (1) in the codex article and add that to your bp-custom.php?
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/Hook into the “bp_adminbar_random_menu” action.
function my_random_article() {
echo 'YOUR LINK';
}
add_action( 'bp_adminbar_random_menu', 'my_random_article' );Add to your theme’s functions.php.
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?You need to create a file called “bp-custom.php” in /wp-content/plugins/.
Make sure you create the file with opening and closing PHP tags:
[?php
//the code
?]
Replace square brackets with triangular ones.
First problem… try using an activity stream loop on your main blog:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/You’ll need to add the activity stream loop to your main blog theme.
Make sure BuddyPress is activated network-wide.
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?bp-custom.php resides in /wp-content/plugins/, not /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/.
Also just to confirm, are you using a subdirectory install?
In reply to: Kick (but not ban) a user from a a group?But alas, you should be patting @johnjamesjacoby on the back for cleaning up my code and adding it to BP core

Try the code in this thread to make the forums tab the default group tab:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/changing-group-tab-display-defaults#post-55449Removing the group home tab will probably need some additional code.
Or you can use some CSS to hide it.In reply to: More Core Committers?The thread was probably closed by me because of a duplicate discussion. We don’t want multiple threads talking about the same thing. Even if there is no satisfactory conclusion, a discussion can continue from the originating thread.
In reply to: Change Group Tab TitlesUse a language file.
Read the post I made just a few posts above.
In reply to: group default avatarSince you’re using the filter I posted, I would manually setup a group loop. Then in this loop, I would use the bp_core_fetch_avatar() function with the “html” parameter set to false (view the full function and parameter list in /bp-core/bp-core-avatars.php).
Doing this will return the URL of the avatar, then you can manually define the width and height in an IMG tag.
In reply to: Standard group for new usersThere’s a way to force group members into the group with Welcome Pack.
Add the following to your /wp-config.php file.
define( 'WELCOME_PACK_AUTOACCEPT_INVITATIONS', true );In reply to: group default avatarSorry for replying late to this thread. I missed this one.
I’ll look into this when I have the time.
