In reply to: Which PHP-files are used to render a page?
Everything should be available for customization in your theme’s folder:
/wp-content/themes/YOUR_THEME/Like Roger stated, it depends on what you want to edit.
In reply to: Buddypress not on themainblog ?Check out this codex article:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/Make sure your WP network is setup as a subdomain.
Blogs would be created at:
xxx.themainblog.comInteracting should be seamless. BP Admin bar will show up on all sites by default.
In reply to: Displaying the WordPress default bio or descriptionmember-header.php is located in /bp-default/members/single/.
If you’re making modifications to the bp-default theme, build a child theme so your changes will not be wiped out:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/In reply to: Need Help with a share plugin i’m creatingIt’s because FB and Buzz uses javascript to render the button.
And because you’re trying to load javascript on an AJAX call, this won’t work.I wouldn’t call myself a jQuery ninja, so I can’t really help you out here I’m afraid.
Not sure if it’s possible.*Edit – Maybe try jQuery.getScript?
http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.getScript/In reply to: How to Override the BuddyPress Avatar Overrideseobrien –
Read this: http://wpmu.org/how-to-add-a-custom-default-avatar-for-buddypress-members-and-groups/iamnorthwind –
If you’re using another plugin to upload avatars, you’ll need to override the way BuddyPress fetches avatars.Specifically, you’ll need to override the “bp_core_fetch_avatar” filter located in /buddypress/bp-core-avatars.php file.
Need a primer on filters? Read this:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API#FiltersIn reply to: Date shown in Default BP theme@newrambler – for /index.php, it’s on line 26:
https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default/index.php@pisanojm – maybe a filter on the_time() would suffice, some might like the existing relative time. Definitely create an enhancement ticket!
In reply to: Forum content in meta and topic title in title?Yes, a ticket does need to be created for this!
*Edit – ticket created:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2598—
To have the topic content as meta description for forum threads, add the following to your theme’s functions.php file:
http://pastebin.com/w0rY2bndIn reply to: Group avatar in activity stream@gwu123 – I already posted a solution for this a few posts before:
https://trac.buddypress.org/attachment/ticket/2578/2578.001.patchJust a FYI, it requires hacking the core.
In reply to: Forum content in meta and topic title in title?Read this to add the topic title to the page title:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/editing-group-and-forum-page-title-tags/In reply to: More information fields in groupsYou’d have to create a plugin that adds group meta information.
If you’re familiar with a little PHP, check out this post for a brief primer:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/adding-more-fields-to-groups/#post-64306Also check out the Group Extension API:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/group-extension-api/In reply to: Make Private Groups VisibleIt’s possible, but would probably require hacking the core.
I don’t have time to look into this, but I would also suggest taking a closer look at /bp-groups/bp-groups-templatetags.php as well.Look for private and group statuses in that file.
In reply to: user blogsSo you want a user blog theme that resembles your Buddypress theme?
Read this:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/forum/topic/bp-blog-theme-as-default/In reply to: how can i allow each user to have blog?Locking thread.
In reply to: How do I detect whether I’m on a BuddyPress page?To detect if you’re on a WP page use:
if ( bp_is_blog_page() )Vice versa, to detect if you’re on a BuddyPress page, use:
if ( !bp_is_blog_page() )There are some things like the activity front page that you’ll need to add to your conditional, but that’s to get you started.
All conditionals can be found in /buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-templatetags.php and on this codex page (might need updating):
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/conditional-template-tags/@pisanojm – I don’t have control with how plugin groups are created.
@johnjamesjacoby might be able to figure out why the BuddyPress Badge group isn’t being created:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-badge/In reply to: Paid Help?BP.org follows a similar approach to wp.org’s forums.
This is a worthy agenda topic for the next dev meeting though.
Look out for the next one here:
http://bpdevel.wordpress.com/Add the topic as an agenda item when the time comes.
In reply to: BP Group Extension BugGood catch, travel-junkie.
I can duplicate the bug on BP 1.2.5.2.In reply to: Please Help….buddypress post backgroundYour example to use is your theme’s page.php file.
An example of a BP file is your theme’s /members/index.php file.Compare the two files and make the necessary adjustments to /members/index.php. This will fix your member directory page. Then you’ll have to apply this to all your other BP templates.
In reply to: How do you edit the header file?geekoftodd – Just judging by your Pastebin code, it sounds like you have a corrupted header.php file; unless you incorrectly pasted the contents of it.
In reply to: Possible with groups? You can do so for member profiles, but not with groups at the moment.
In reply to: Please Help….buddypress post backgroundYou’re using the BP Template Pack plugin, which is a quick fix.
You need to modify the BP templates that got moved into your theme so they match the structure of your theme’s page.php file.
In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP AdminbarYou have to go to the group admin settings and enable the discussion forum like on a regular BP install.
Are you the group admin, pcwriter?
In reply to: Time on my site is off by 5 hours. Here’s the main changeset in BP 1.2 branch that Paul Hastings is referring to:
https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3142Several people have confirmed it works (including myself).
I should note that there have been other patches since then that JJJ has added, so you might want to just use the updated BP 1.2 branch.
In reply to: Kick (but not ban) a user from a a group?JJJ is the man! Didn’t expect the fast turnover as well!
In reply to: Kick (but not ban) a user from a a group?Done

I’ll probably refactor this as a core patch in the next week or so, but here’s something to play around with:
http://pastebin.com/MpmneujEAdd this to your functions.php.
