In reply to: Kick (but not ban) a user from a a group?
Alright, I’ll look into creating a patch for this in the next few days (hopefully for inclusion in BP 1.2.6).
In reply to: Make Private Groups VisibleWhat’s the point of having a group private then?
Just make everything public!
In reply to: problem creating user blogsI would post about this on the WordPress.org multsite forum:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisiteSince this is most likely a problem with your network settings after switching hosts.
In reply to: Fatal ErrorIssue resolved!
Don’t you hate it when people use the activity post form instead of the forums, hnla?
In reply to: Fatal ErrorHi eyg1,
I already replied to this in your update.
For future reference, please refrain from posting about your problem in multiple places as that is unnecessary.
Ahh, I understand why it doesn’t work right now.
It’s because BuddyPress 1.2.6 hasn’t been released yet with the updated patch. If you can’t wait for BP 1.2.6, make the following change:
https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/3132Just looking over the parameters again, it appears that the “recipients” parameter should be an array.
So try changing that.PMs and other BP components can be enabled/disabled from the “BuddyPress > Component Setup” page in the WP admin dashboard.
In reply to: Group Activity FeedYou have to modify the code from that other post to work for groups.
Use a conditional like bp_is_group_home(), then modify the query string to add the “user_id” parameter for the group admin.
http://pastebin.com/Fv5kPuBkModify to your liking.
In reply to: Activity stream bug?“Activity > Groups” works for me. I see only group activity here.
I’m getting the opposite behaviour.
Under “Activity > Personal”, I get all the activity I’ve made including groups.I can see potential problems with that $args variable you have setup.
Try setting up the arguments as an array.$args = array( 'recipients' => $user_id, 'sender_id' => 11, 'subject' => $title, 'content' => $message );If PMs are disabled, the code will not run. In fact, most likely you’ll get an undefined function error.
In reply to: “Join Group” link does nothing on my siteTo be fair, this is a third-party theme, I’d recommend contacting the authors of that Buddymatic child theme:
http://freebpthemes.com/themes/early-morning/Also follow the instructions listed in the post.
In reply to: Kick (but not ban) a user from a a group?I actually brought this up a long time ago when I was a BP noob

Seems like BP is missing a “Remove from group” option in the manage members screen.
This functionality could be added using the groups_leave_group() function.Needs some investigating.
In reply to: How I create a tab Reviews like in the plugins? If you want to emulate the reviews functionality for groups, then I’d recommend building it off the awesome Group Extension API:
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/group-extension-api/It’s actually not that hard to build it.
In reply to: Singular Activity StreamLook at the pretty red arrows!

I forgot to mention that this won’t fix existing blog posts in the activity stream.
See if new posts work.FYI, if you’re going to be making changes to the bp-default theme, it’s better to create a child theme:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/In reply to: Deleting Individual User’s AvatarNope, no DB entries for avatars!
In reply to: Sticky how to’s?Stickies in the support group forums are broken and we have no way to super-sticky them at the very top of the main “Support” or “Community” pages.
When Boone gets a chance to tackle some of the site’s issues, I’ll propose this to him
I did start something on the current codex:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/faqs/specific-faqs/There’s also the old FAQ thread:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/faq-how-to-code-snippets-and-solutions/BP codex ninja, @mercime, is working on restructuring the codex here as well:
http://namoo.co.uk/groups/bpcodex-redesign/wiki/Needs some eyeballs so feel free to help mercime out.
Notice how I’m linking to a specific post in the thread, rather than the beginning?
The post I’m linking to should allow you to override the BP-truncated excerpt with the original content.
I’ve updated the post above with a direct link to the code I’m referring to.Add the snippet to your theme’s functions.php.
In reply to: Deleting Individual User’s AvatarClear out your avatars folder.
eg. example.com/wp-content/uploads/avatars/ (assuming you’re using regular WP, not in network mode) – wipe out everything in this folder. You might want to back this folder up if you decide you want to bring them back.
In reply to: Gravatar Settings?Definitely add this as an enhancement ticket on Trac:
https://trac.buddypress.org/newticketIn reply to: After installation my control panel turns to blankCool, glad you’re up and running!
In reply to: Can admin replace a member’s avatar? You can manually add a member avatar to your avatar directory.
eg.
example.com/wp-content/uploads/avatars/USER_ID/hldkfhlaskjhdfljsdfdf-bpfull.jpg
example.com/wp-content/uploads/avatars/USER_ID/hldkfhlaskjhdfljsdfdf-bpthumb.jpgThe suffixes are important as BP will pick up any image with the “-bpfull.jpg” suffix or the “-bpthumb.jpg” suffix.
If you only have to do this once, then this is sufficient.
If you want to replace all the member avatars with a default one, try reading this:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/group-avatars-how-to-change-the-default/#post-45764In reply to: “Join Group” link does nothing on my siteWhat happens when you use the default BuddyPress theme?
Does the “Join Group” link work then?
In reply to: After installation my control panel turns to blankDid you pass parameters into the messages_new_message() function?
All the parameters can be found in the /plugins/buddypress/bp-messages.php file like Boone stated.

Private messages are disabled on this website at the moment due to spam. However, on a regular install, simply navigate to the “My Account” menu in the BuddyPress admin bar (located at the top) and navigate to “Messages”.
