In reply to: Missing the members tab and group creation questionThe “Create a Group” button is only found, by default, on the groups directory page.
In reply to: plugin disclaimerAre you talking about at account signup?
If so, try Travel-Junkie’s Xtra Signup plugin:

In reply to: Any Experience with JQuery Tools LibraryYou have to make sure that jQuery Tools isn’t conflicting with WordPress’ jQuery call.
Try this:

There is a reference to the_time(), so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
In reply to: Hide profile fieldTested just now, works for me.
You need to use the profile id #.Go to your profile field setup and check the ID by putting your mouse over the “Edit” field. The ID # is field_id.
For example, “Name” is 1.Either that or go to your DB and manually look up the profile field id in the wp_bp_xprofile_fields table.
You can also use any profile template tag and do your conditional.
If you wanted to use the profile name, use bp_get_the_profile_field_name() instead.
In reply to: Date shown in Default BP themeOh that, you’ll need to modify index.php and do the same thing mentioned three posts above.
In reply to: image link in a plugin folder – dev questionYou didn’t declare the empty array like I mentioned above:
http://pastebin.com/z13rhwYxIn reply to: Group Activity FeedAfter re-reading the first post again, I don’t think amahesh wanted to override the group activity RSS feed like I originally thought! lol
That’s what happens when you read into things too literally!amahesh, if you’re talking about just filtering the main group home activity, then you’ll need to modify the AJAX $query_string:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/how-can-i-set-show-newblogposts-as-default-on-acitivity-streamDetect if you’re on the group’s home page, then you’ll need to add the secondary_item_id that I talked about above.
Or you can do what dwenaus did and create your own group activity template.
In reply to: Date shown in Default BP themeIf you’re talking about activity updates, you’ll need to apply a filter to “bp_activity_time_since” (located in bp-activity/bp-activity-templatetags.php).
Something like this in your theme’s functions.php:
function my_bp_activity_time_since($relative_time, $activity) {
// use date parameters – http://php.net/manual/en/function.date.php
return date(‘FORMAT YOUR TIME’, $activity->date_recorded );
}
add_filter( ‘bp_activity_time_since’, ‘my_bp_activity_time_since’, 1, 2 );BP needs syntax highlighting *cough boone*

In the meantime, Pastebin is your friend!
In reply to: image link in a plugin folder – dev questionIf there is no saved setting for the meta, you should declare a blank array.
eg.
$my_meta == groups_get_groupmeta(….);if ( empty($my_meta) )
$my_meta = array();In reply to: per_page option in bp_has_activities()If you’re modifying the AJAX activity stream, you need to modify the $query_string.
Read this thread for pointers:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/how-can-i-set-show-newblogposts-as-default-on-acitivity-streamIn reply to: Group Activity Feed@amahesh – You need to wrap the code in functions.php with open and closing PHP tags.
eg.[?php
THE PHP CODE
?]
Replace square brackets with triangular ones.
In reply to: Hide profile fieldYou have to ask 1000 and 1 times!

You have to modify the profile loop (/members/single/profile/profile-loop.php)
Change this line:
while ( bp_profile_fields() ) : bp_the_profile_field();to:
while ( bp_profile_fields() ) : bp_the_profile_field(); if ( bp_get_the_profile_field_id() != 'ID # YOU WANT TO SKIP' ) :then change the corresponding endwhile; line to:
endif; endwhile;—
That’s one way of doing it.
In reply to: Group Activity Feed@amahesh –
You shouldn’t be modifying any files in /plugins/buddypress.
If you’re modifying the bp-default theme, build a child theme. That way, when you upgrade BP, your changes will not be wiped out!
Once you build your child theme, follow the instructions I outlined above.
And yes, you make a duplicate of bp-activity-group-feed.php and put it in your theme’s folder because we don’t want to modify any core files!
In reply to: image link in a plugin folder – dev questionGlad it worked for you.
FYI, you don’t need to serialize or unserialize arrays since BP does that automatically for you when you cache meta!
In reply to: image link in a plugin folder – dev questionMake sure you save the groupmeta as an array or as a comma-delimited entry.
Then you can do your check with in_array() or strpos().
That would be sweet if you could do that, hnla!
In reply to: How can I reactivate a deleted forum thread?The good news is the thread isn’t entirely deleted!
The bad news is you’ll have to go into your DB to retrieve it.Login to PHPMyAdmin or whatever is your SQL tool of choice and navigate to wp_bp_bb_topics (or whatever is your bbPress table).
Find the topic you want to retrieve, then edit it and change the “topic_status” column to “0”.Now your topic should be rescued (hopefully).
The bp-default theme does not look cosmetically good in IE6. Some CSS rules are using newer ones that IE6 just doesn’t support.
Also, the BP admin bar will be displayed in the footer instead of being fixed at the top.However, most of the functionality should work.
You could try installing IE7-JS:
http://code.google.com/p/ie7-js/It attempts to fix many of the HTML and CSS issues that IE6 has.
You’d have to turn your WordPress 3.0 install into a network and create a secondary blog.
Then you could activate the BP-default theme on this new blog.
Follow these instructions:
