Edit your text in .mo .po file. Have a look under docs on this site
In reply to: Using Buddypress and Thesis 1.5.1@nunomad – you could try this approach as a workaround –
Keep your main site as a WordPress site based on Thesis template and install BuddyPress in a secondary site (see instructions under docs on here)
That should preserve your hooks in the primary site. You’ll have to do some work with your urls, nav and bp site theming though
In reply to: Stylizing the navigation barIt may, but without knowing all of your themes’ CSS setups, it’s not possible to say for sure. Order of CSS is important, later definitions will override previous ones. More specific selectors might interfere, as might indiscriminate use of !important.
Give it a try!
In reply to: Subpage for a users profileIn reply to: Reply to first item in activity stream failsAre you working with your own bespoke child theme, but using the JavaScript from the default theme?
If so, you may have removed / altered some of the markup around the first element that the JavaScript for editing requires.
Have a look at the selectors in your JavaScript and see if you can spot anything obvious
In reply to: Member Count Incorrectp.s. you might hit problems if you are using forums, as the current version of BP (1.2.x) doesn’t support a single ‘standalone’ forum. I’ve a feeling this was supported in 1.0.3
In reply to: Member Count Incorrectyes, they were on separate themes in 1.0.3, but the primary site and BP pages now share a single theme.
If you take a look at this plugin, you should be able to update thesis for BuddyPress:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/
Once updated, activate the theme in your admin system and select it instead of the default.
I’m sure others will have updated thesis, so you might be able to get specific help if you run into difficulties.
I suggest asking them as a separate forum thread.
Good luck!
In reply to: Member Count IncorrectI do seem to remember we used to see odd count numbers with 1.0.3. on one site. Unfortunately, it’s no longer up and running, and I don’t have the code anymore.
In reply to: Add users profile fields to the activity pageAre you using the default theme?
The default theme shows the profile on a separate tab when you visit the member’s page. If you want to move the view profile content onto the activity tab you can look at copying the content from members/single/profile.php into members/single/activity.php (do this in a child theme of course).
If you want something more sophisticated, take a look at the custom loop examples under Support …. Docs on this site
In reply to: Stylizing the navigation barAdding a link – Have a look at this thread: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-moverelocate-the-links-in-the-admin-bars-my-account-individuallyseparately-to-the-sidebar/
Your other issues are CSS rather than BuddyPress related. Check the admin bar CSS settings in the different themes you are using for your blogs. If you want them to look the same, they will have to have the same settings.
In reply to: @thepseudo in the postsIf you are adding your own filters you can add them either in your theme’s function.php file or in bp-custom.php in your plugins folder.
This article introduces you to the concept of filters in WordPress (albeit from a plugin perspective): https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API#Filters
To find the hook in question (content_save_pre), I suggest using your file editor and searching the files in your WordPress install. Also have a Google, and you’ll find some information: e.g. http://adambrown.info/p/wp_hooks/hook/content_save_pre?version=1.5.2&file=xmlrpc.php
[Edit: Rich has already given you the line to add for the filter – try it in your functions.php]
details on removing from the nav bar:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-remove-and-add-items-in-bp_get_displayed_user_nav/To remove from the admin menu, add something like this to your functions.php:
if ( bp_core_is_multisite() )
remove_action( ‘bp_adminbar_menus’, ‘bp_adminbar_blogs_menu’, 6 );In reply to: User blogs show up not working correctly. This is exactly the same post you made 1 month ago: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/users-blogs-show-up-broken/
Your first link is just a Google Blogger blog, and locks a visitor’s browser to some extent… I don’t advise clicking on it.
Your second link is a blank page.
I don’t see any sign of BuddyPress on your sites.
Are you trying to install WordPress multisite and give people a blog? – this should be your starting point: https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
In reply to: Killing the @mention functioncross linking threads – there’s more on this subject here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/mentions-is-confusing-to-members/
If anyone has developed a full solution for removing @mention, please let me know
In reply to: Member Count Incorrect@nunomad – slightly off track – why’ve you gone with 1.0.3? That’s an old old version. The latest BuddyPress (and the best option for support, etc.) is 1.2.5
hxxp is just a placeholder to stop everything being turned into links in the post. You should use http
p.s. I’m not sure you need to make the avatar path changes if this is a new install (rather than moving an existing BP install from the root blog). Perhaps @r-a-y can confirm this.
In reply to: @thepseudo in the posts‘fix’ isn’t the right word, as it’s not really broken – in general, WordPress blog post text is left as the original author intended it to be written (with the exception of some meddling by Matt mullenweg).
If you want to modify your blog posts to convert @pseudo references into clickable links, you can probably do it by filtering the blog content when it is saved.
BuddyPress uses the function bp_activity_at_name_filter() to create those links. Take a look at it (it’s defined in bp-activity-filters.php) and see if you can adapt / use it for the filters on blog content saves.
In reply to: Need a Submit News PluginTake a look at @Pollyplummer‘s recent article on front page posting http://wpmu.org/8-wordpress-plugins-that-enable-posting-and-editing-from-the-front-end/
In reply to: Split members into admin defined caregoriesit’s item 9 on this list for BuddyPress 1.3:
In reply to: Split members into admin defined caregories@modemlooper – roles would restrict you to just one level of categorisation
Category and tag taxonomies for members would allow you to implement much more complex groupings, e.g. hierarchical nested groups of members, allocation of members to multiple categories, etc.
[Edit: This argument applies to groups as well as members, and is something Burt Adsit tried to achieve in the early 1.0 BuddyPress days]
In reply to: Feature Request – Profile Galleries?@thelandman – yes, that should do it
In reply to: Feature Request – Profile Galleries? With some template coding, you can enable writing on other people’s walls – it’s done on this site for instance… click through to any member, and you’ll see the post box at the top!
I haven’t looked in to the coding, but suspect it’s just a ‘simple’ case of hiding the @mention ‘behind’ the post form
In reply to: Split members into admin defined caregoriesI’m not sure roles is the correct solution to this.
What we really want is the capability to extend the existing category / tags concept to include member profiles as well as posts.
I’m sure there’s probably a lot of discussion on this topic already, under the heading ‘taxonomies’. Unfortunately, most articles using the term ‘taxonomy’ descend rapidly into unintelligible tech speak
