| WordPress Origin Story | My career in web development began in 2008 when I started as a Flash Action Script developer. However, after a year, I faced a major hurdle: a scarcity of learning resources for Flash, which made it challenging to advance my skills. In 2009, I came across PHP, which piqued my interest. As I dived into PHP, I noticed a repetitive pattern in my work. I found myself recreating similar components in each new project, like dynamic page/content modules, user management systems, and file upload/download features. This monotony began to dampen my enthusiasm. However, my journey took an exciting turn when a friend asked me to create a WordPress theme. During this project, I discovered that many of the functionalities I had been building from scratch were already available within the WordPress platform. This revelation sparked my curiosity and led me to explore the vast world of WordPress. Today, I’m recognized as an accomplished WordPress plugin developer, having honed my skills in this dynamic environment. Despite my achievements in WordPress, I must admit that I haven’t yet had the opportunity to give back to the open-source community that has supported me. This has always been a goal of mine, though I’ve encountered some challenges in doing so. Nevertheless, I remain committed to the idea that one day, I will contribute significantly to the WordPress community. When that day comes, I will take immense pride in being a WordPress Developer. |
