Just installed WP3.2RC1 to play with. One thing I noticed was that it allows email addresses as usernames – could that be a problem for BP – especially if someone wants to add BP on after the WP install has lots of users and then wants to sync them…?

This looks like the plugin I need; but I cannot quite get it to work how I was wanting and it’s left me a bit confused. It may be the theme we have interfering with it as it has I think replaced the sidebars with its own set; any suggestions welcome.

Just to confirm they’re both using WP3.1.1 I’m wondering if the difference is that one site was set up as WP3.0.1 then BP installed then Multisite enabled and then upgraded to WP3.1 – therefore BP menu remained on Site Admin screen. I have access to two different installs of BuddyPress. On one the BuddyPress admin menu is on the Site Admin screen on the other it is on the Network Admin screen. Very confusing. That works for nicely for overall directory, but not individual group membership – any thoughts about how to achieve that? changing the is_confirmed value to 0 in wp_bp_groups_members seems to do the trick. Definitely looking like a plugin job to manage all that though…

I admit this is probably not a general problem/use-case, but I’m finding it a particularly key issue for closed membership groups in particular. Placement of the widgets in the sidebar and/or template depends on the theme, not DW. DW just shows and hides widgets following the conditional rules you have set.
