In reply to: Filtering bp_format_time
> looking at formatting the date in private messages … $just_date is false.
Then the filter will work fine.
The time will be part of the string passed in $date.
[ In your filter, var_dump $date – what do you see ? ]
You just have do some string and date operations on that string.In reply to: Filtering bp_format_time$date doesn’t include the time unless $just_date is false.
$time is never sent as a separate variable.So you’ll have to figure out how to call bp_format_time() without setting $just_date to true.
Or write your own function.grep bp_format_time()
I think you’ll see that usually BP calls it with a true value for $just_date.Have a look at how group loops are used in the files here:
plugins\buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\groups\Create a custom template that uses a group loop and output whatever you want.
Create a page and assign your custom template to it.

In reply to: Group activity is missingTo over ride the BP template files for single Groups:
Copy this folder
plugins\buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\groups\single\Into your theme folder – make sure you use the same folder structure.
So when done, it should look like this:your-theme\buddypress\groups\single\
Then you can edit the files in the ‘single’ folder and maybe solve your problem.
In reply to: Members Directory sort function not working> reinstalling buddypress back to all default settings
That won’t fixed any issues introduced via /plugins/bp-custom.php
Make a copy of that file and then delete it from your server.Also deactivate any plugins that ‘your’ developer installed.
In reply to: How to prevent users from changing their avatarsTake a look at bp_core_remove_subnav_item()
Or do a template over-ride of this file and put a message to the member in it.
buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\single\profile\change-avatar.phpIn reply to: BuddyPress Constantly Crashes ServerNo, I’m saying that you need to try and narrow things down re whatever is creating all the session files and never killing them.
In reply to: BuddyPress Constantly Crashes Server> billions of sess files so I increased /tmp/ folder to 8GBs
That increase will only push back the point where the crash happens.
You need to determine what is creating the session files.
Try turning off WooCommerce.In reply to: BuddyPress Constantly Crashes ServerYeah, doesn’t sound right.
Anything in the error logs for apache / mysql / php ?
Painful but, try disabling all BP-related plugins (bbpress etc. ) and see if the server tips over.
If it takes 10 hours, then some resource ( memory, db connections, etc ) is not being recycled.
Eventually you run out of that resource and crash.In reply to: Private Message button only appears sometimesSwitch to the BP default theme or a WP theme like Twenty Thirteen.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, then the problem is in your custom theme.In reply to: Notify systemThose emails are already sent by either WordPress or BuddyPress.
In BP, on your profile page there is a tab called ‘Settings’.
There you will find options to receive or not receive emails.WP gives you the option to send emails re new post comments.
In reply to: How to add item to main activity SubnavDoes the correct link exist somewhere else?
If so, paste it here.
In reply to: How to add item to main activity Subnavtry this:
function bp_myadd_tabto_mainactivity() { echo '<li id="activity-invito"><a href="/invite-friends">Invite your friends</a></li>'; } add_action( 'bp_activity_type_tabs','bp_myadd_tabto_mainactivity');In reply to: How do I customize this on Admin barNear the bottom:
Adding Your Plugin’s Link to the BuddyPress Member Toolbar Menu
In reply to: How to add item to main activity SubnavTake a look at:
\buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\activity\index.phpYou’ll see the link markup there.
So you can over-ride that template and add some markup.Or you can leave it alone and use one of the many hooks, such as:
do_action( 'bp_activity_type_tabs' );
To insert your link via a function.In reply to: What to use when, and HOW?Try posting here:
In reply to: Adding a particular user type as friendThat can be done via filters.
For example, look at function bp_is_friend in buddypress\bp-friends\bp-friends-template.php
For the members loop, you could use that filter to hook into a custom function that determines whether the members is a client or lawyer or already a friend and return true or false or empty depending on whether you want to show the add_friend button.
In reply to: strong passwordsThere are pre-submit and post-submit hooks in General Settings
Look in members\single\settings\general.phpWrite a function that calls your strong password plugin.
bp_get_displayed_user_fullname() will only retrieve the data.
If you see it, then your code has a problem.
If you want further help, use pastebin or gist to create a code snippet showing your code and then post the link here.
$variable = bp_get_displayed_user_fullname();
If it’s available, why assign it to a global in a different file ?
The use of a global is the only thing funky about what you’re doing.
Try just checking ‘s’ in members-loop.

Please add ‘your’ notices to that ticket, if you haven’t already done so.$_REQUEST[‘s’] isn’t available in members-loop after clicking ?
