In reply to: buddypress-followers – scope following filter
Does the followers plugin extend activity types by registering their type?
If not, you’ll have to do it yourself.Add custom filters to loops and enjoy them within your plugin
In reply to: How to find way around codeIt can be bit confusing at first.
The profile templates are here:
buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\single\profile\Don’t edit them.
Create template overloads and edit those.You are registering your stack in a filter and overloading all templates.
I’m not sure if this will solve your Load More issue, but have you tried this approach?In reply to: Can I @everyone when I message?No offense, but shouldn’t bug reports and suggestions be git > issues ?
[ I’m guilty too. ]Once the plugin passes initial testing, create an announcement thread.
In reply to: Can I @everyone when I message?True. I just prefer the precision of filters. 🙂
Did I miss it or are things wide open?
iow. Any group member can blast the group?
I can understand why you’d want to avoid setting screens for now…Actually, adding a section to Group > Manage is pretty easy, front and back.
You know it’ll be requested.But maybe default restrict usage to admins and mods?
In reply to: Can I @everyone when I message?Looks good, haven’t test it yet.
Suggestion: a filter hook for $text in the format functions
In reply to: “Favorite” counter/ countFavorites are bookmarks, not likes.
There are plugins for likes, such as
@micheleriva – you’re using a custom registration page, correct?
Try it with the default BP register page.
If that works, then you know the issue is in your custom page.Please use the
codebutton when sharing code.bp_setup_navis used to added tabs & subtabs to member pages – is that what you want?In reply to: 2 BP activity feeds on 1 WP siteYou don’t need two feeds.
You need one feed whose parameters change depending on user level.
Create a template overload of the activity-loop template.
Add some conditionals to create parameters.
Use those parameters to filter the loop.Or use bp_parse_args.
In reply to: bp_setup_current_user called incorrectly errorI cannot duplicate this issue with WP 4.3.1, BP 2.3.4, any WP theme such as 2015.
In reply to: Error with recent plugin updateAsked and answered many times.
If you’ve turned off all plugins and are using a WP like 2015, you should not see the warning.
Then use your theme.
Then start turning on plugins, one at a time.In reply to: Register and Forgot PasswordPlease do not hijack threads or double post.
Your reg page shows the standard layout.
Adjusting the layout may require changes in the css for your theme.
There are many articles about customizing the registration page.
Google: buddypress customize registration pageIn reply to: Local or remoteYour question is too broad – there are several ways to create a local install: MAMP, XAMPP, Vagrants, etc.
If you’ve never done it, you might get setup faster and be more comfortable working online.
In reply to: Commenting Turned OffIf you are referring to Forum threads, that is handled by bbPress which has its own support site.
In reply to: Local or remoteEither way is fine, whatever you prefer.
In reply to: bp_setup_current_user called incorrectly errorIt means something in your theme or a plugin is calling a user hook too early.
It can be tricky to track down.
It’s an aggressive notice – but just a notice, not an error.
You shouldn’t see it unless you have debug turned on.In reply to: Groups pageYou could write a custom BP component call ‘Business’ that functions the same as ‘Groups’.
You’ll need to be experienced developer to do so.The core components extend a class called
BP_Component.
You can extend this class to create your own components.
In folder bp-groups you can see how the groups component is being created and use it as an example.In reply to: buddypress frontend linksIf it was nginx, why do the links work in theme 2015 ?
In reply to: buddypress frontend links1. Other people do have this issue. It’s due to the use of some hook in their theme or a plugin.
2. Something in your theme is rewriting or redirecting urls.
In reply to: buddypress frontend links1st issue: a plugin is calling
bp_setup_current_usertoo soon – using a hook that fires before BP is ready. This can be tricky to track down.2nd issue: All the links look correct. It’s probably an issue in your custom theme. To confirm, try switching to a WP theme like 2015.
In reply to: Can I @everyone when I message?Maybe…
Write a plugin that checks for@groupor@everyonein the context of the ‘Whats New’ area for a group.
Check to see if user is a group-admin or maybe group member.
Generate @ mentions for all group members.
This will create a notification for all members – not the same as a ‘message’, but they will get the info.In reply to: Buddypress profile menuI repeat:
This is most likely related to something in your theme.
To confirm, try switching to a WP theme, maybe 2015.In reply to: Action confirmation messages as pop ups?The hook is
do_action( 'template_notices' );in various templates.In /bp-core/bp-core-functions.php
The add_action isadd_action( 'template_notices', 'bp_core_render_message' );
The function isfunction bp_core_render_message()You could try removing that
add_actionand replacing it with a call to a function that creates a pop-up.In reply to: [Resolved] Display name instead of UsernameIt’s easy to add a member’s display name.
Create a template overload of this file:
buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\single\member-header.phpThen replace this:
<?php if ( bp_is_active( 'activity' ) && bp_activity_do_mentions() ) : ?> <h2 class="user-nicename">@<?php bp_displayed_user_mentionname(); ?></h2> <?php endif; ?>With this:
<?php if ( bp_is_active( 'activity' ) && bp_activity_do_mentions() ) : ?> <h2 class="user-fullname"> <?php bp_displayed_user_fullname(); ?> <small>@<?php bp_displayed_user_mentionname(); ?></small> </h2> <?php endif; ?>
