Well activity is already protected by akismet integration.

Except that there is no good way for members to flag activity.

Sending friend requests to folks you don’t know is an issue that all social networks, be they Facebook, Orkut, MySpace, Hi5, or even LinkedIn, have to contend with.

@bphelp I think you aren’t giving the developers enough credit. Version releases have been accelerating
1.2 to 1.5 took 20 months
1.5 to 1.6 took 11 months
1.6 to 1.7 took 8 months

Work on BuddyPress 1.8 is in full steam and it will be awesome.

This is also the time when 1.9 is being rightfully scoped. What are your top 5 feature requests for 1.9?

For closed response fields (radio buttons, checkboxes, dropdowns/selects and like), it would be cool to be able to associate images/icons with the options.

Then in the front-end, in user profile and directory instead of “St.Louis” we could show the Gateway Arch icon, or for London we could show London Eye icon, etc.

There are 2 aspects to it:
1) @username is online now (on the username’s profile page, card etc)
2) Who’s online now filter for member directory.

60% of the plugins listed here https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins are not really BuddyPress plugins

Which is not terrible of and by itself (these are BP-compatible plugins for WP). But I agree, there needs to be a way to separate out “Plugins for BuddyPress” (things that actually extend the functionality of BuddyPress) from “WordPress plugins…[Read more]
