There is an old plugin that auto-joins based on profile information, but this plugin is much simpler than that. All it does is add new members to selected groups automatically. That’s it. It would not be a solution for what you’re trying to do.

@takeo I didn’t do any of the theme edits yet, but the activity stream to forum replies worked out of the box for me.
Only tried with WP3.0RC & BP 1.2.4.1

@takeo “all updates look about the same. A small icon for each type of event (friend add, new forum post, etc.) would go a LONG way to making the stream easier to understand at a glance.”

each activity type is tagged with a css class – should be easy to add something in
