Yes, I tried that and I’ve created the pages needed for buddypress but whenever i click on info that is not one of the main pages created (i.e. profile) i get the page not found error.
Sorry, I’ve updated the post title to be more specific, its in fact a little bar that should come up at the top of the page after activating the buddypress that directs you to the installation wizard.
The options that I now have without it are very limited so I believe that it is essential got the configuration on buddypress to my blog.
I’m deleting every possible trace of the plugin now to do a clean install, fingers crossed!
