Yes, it’s very strange. The only time this happened is with me. It is either because there is a bug somewhere due to the gMail address or a bug with the owner of BuddyPress in Version 3.1.0 but it is going to take somebody far smarter than me to figure out this peculiarity. Unfortunately as @mercime has stated to use 2011 you will have to go through the process of theme compatibility.

In a related question, is there a plan to try and make bpuddypress theme independent?

Well I comments out the section of code and the error went away, but not sure if I broke something else in the plugin or not.

thanks for the reply. looking forward to see that. such a great plugin.. secure invites plugin doesn’t seem to work on me. it doesn’t show the error message when the user tries to register without invitation.
