How do you hide in the login screen that it says we are in maintenance mode?

I did that but I still cannot go to and add menus.

What I did;

1.open up functions.php file and add
add_theme_support( ‘menus’ );

2. replaced
“ul id=”nav”
With

?php wp_nav_menu( array( ‘sort_column’ => ‘menu_order’, ‘container_class’ => ‘menu-header’ ) ); ?

and I still can not add menus.
where did I go wrong?

hmm might need to download the nightly because 1.7 doesn’t work with WP3.0 I think. Pictures come up as missing links.
