And to anyone who reads this post later, and is looking answer to the same question, I found a new plugin called rtMedia – which is a great choice for adding photos, videos, or audio on your posts and showing it in the activity stream. It seems to have released 3 days earlier, atleast the latest version with this name. https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-media/

You should look into the style.css of your theme, and edit the profile field div, and change the html color code from white to black.
You can edit your style.css of your theme either from the dashboard by going to editing, or through FTP access.
