404 error after forum posts

Its late. I’m burned out and stuck, but can’t sleep until I fix this. I upgraded today and now when someone posts in the forum that first post is ok but if anyone responds it goes to a 404 error after they “post topic”.

Tried a few things. Can’t figure it out. Any suggestion? Has this happen to any of you before?

the url in the forum will be http://nameofsite.com/networks/groups/ …

then after someone responds it is:
http://nameofsite.com/networks/networks/groups/ …

not sure if thats normal – thats why i am posting again to see if it does that on this site

that seems to be why i am getting the 404 but why is it adding the name of the group on a second time?

manually updated wordpress but that didnt work – going to try previous version

man nothing is working usually i find a solution to these kind of problems but i am fully stumped. My site is super active too and this is the longest it has ever been down. Heeeeeeeeeeeelp!

also when i click on the activity link i get the 404

what is going on?

Sort of suggests your permalink structure is messed up, have you tried reselecting and saving the permalinks?

btw when posting example links use the reserved domain ‘example.com’ reserved for this purpose by IANA

going to try deleting site. re-installing from scratch, and restoring database. That will all be new to me.

Don’t know if this is the same case for others, but I found that my bb-config.php file had a couple of empty lines at the end, which was causing a 404 error when posting a group or a topic in a forum.

Once I removed those extra blank lines all worked great.

Firfox led me to the answer by stating that the headers had already “started” in the bb-config.php file.
