A quick note about WordPress 3.2

    Hi everyone!

It’s likely that WordPress 3.2 will be released very soon – anywhere from the next few hours to the next few days. One big change in WP 3.2 will affect BP users: the version of jQuery shipped with WP will jump from 1.4.4 to 1.6.1. (Read more about the change on the WP development blog.)

BP’s packaged theme, BuddyPress Default (or bp-default, for short) makes extensive use of jQuery, and you’ll find that the version of bp-default in BP 1.2.8 is not 100% compatible with WP 3.2. Not to worry – we are planning a same-day BuddyPress release, BP 1.2.9. However, due to various technical reasons beyond our control, the jQuery in bp-default BP 1.2.9 will not work properly with earlier versions of jQuery.

What this means, in a nutshell, is that you should upgrade your production BP website to WP 3.2 at the same time that you upgrade BP to 1.2.9. Conversely, if you do not plan to upgrade to WP 3.2, do not upgrade BP to 1.2.9 when it comes out.

Alright thanks. Sounds like I might want to wait for the 1.2.9b though ;)

No, you don’t. There won’t be one. :)

The issues everyone are having are not with BP. They are with plugins or themes that had the same issue BP did (outdated jQuery) or are issues with browser cache. I personally confirmed this on 5 user sites in the past 2 days, and BP has been woking perfectly. :)

I’m runnin a few sites that use BuddyPress (with template pack) and a child of twentyten as the theme. When I attempt a WP 3.2 upgrade it says downloading zip but then just stops. It is only sites that are running BP that are affected this way. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

@stevieg – Could be a memory issue. You should be disabling all plugins before doing a core WP update.

anyone using the genesis framework from studiopress & genesisconnect with need to update genesisconnect as well. Then it works!

does anyone have same issue in BP 1.2.9, that help section in member’s header (after @username) does not reveal anymore?

what is happening to buddypress.org? I cannot search, do not see updates in single view. Support topics don’t have pagination anymore, cannot edit/delete topics etc.

    thanks.

BuddyPress.org is being worked on, and is unrelated to the 1.2.9 release.

thanks Paul, I had to write that these are two separate questions.
    First one is still opened.

spent few hours and no success.
I do see that in bp-default 1.2.9 reveal is working (help section with question sign in profile header), but why after update it stoped working in my child theme?
tried to switch off all plugins, removed functions.php, member-header.php etc.

were there any changes to default.css in 1.2.9?

    thanks.

    No — see https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-default-theme-changelog/

(ignore all the property changes, those are irrelevant)

thank you Paul, already found an issue. It was some conflict of divs/classes in my child theme, which, somehow, appearead only after update.

    thanks again.
