Activating BuddyPress causes blank page output

    We have a site running WP 4.9.4 on PHP 7.1. When I enable BuddyPress, the web site delivers blank pages after a user logs on. I have disabled all plugins except Akismet.

    We use Elegant Themes Divi theme. I have tested this with the stock themes and the behavior was the same.
