Activationpage is not shown

When clicking the activation link of the confirmation email, I see the activation link appearing in the url of the browser, and next the home page of the website is shown.
The status of the new user in Users, Manage Registrations is still “pending”.Similarly, when I am in the Settings of Buddypress, Pages, when I view the Activation page, the home page is shown instead.
How to make the activation work properly?
