can someone please give me ideas on how to speed up the activity page ? i have a busy community and there is a very painful delay before it will load the activity page which is our homepage …… the database shouldn’t be strained that much i have my own server with 4gb ram and even with 15-20 users it just stalls to load that activity stream …i have innodb mysql server tables ….. i do apc caching and disk page caching …. how can i get the activity stream to load in a reasonable amount of time? thanks in advance for any help!

You might be interested in CloudFlare. This will help with security as well as CDN. In the meantime, there is a plugin for wordpress that will help you analyze load times:

@LPH2005 THANKS FOR THE REPLY …. i already have a cdn http://maxcdn.com which pulls files so you don’t have to upload ….. other than that i don’t see what else cloudflare will do to speed up the database queries affecting the activity page …. my thinking is maybe limit the homepage activity stream to query only important stuff and leave out the friend connections etc…what do you guys think or do you know how to do this? i’ve seen a plugin that blocks certain activity items from being stored to the database does that mean they won’t be displayed on activity stream also? any ideas on how to speed it up would be great if anyone has lots of activity i’m sure has seen this issue
