Activity Stream and custom User Profiles

Hi,

i posted a similar question in the “How to” Forum a few weeks ago, but unfortunately did not receive any answers. Maybe it is more a issue of “Creating & Extending” and so i hope, that you guys could help me out. It would also be very helpful, if someone told me, that my problem is not solvable at all.

So the question is: is it possible to show updates on custom profile fields like relationship status in the activity stream, something like “User X changed his relationship status to Y”? I hope I didn’t fail to see any obvious possibility and would be really grateful for every hint.

Yes, you can do this, but you need to write PHP code.

Have a look at some of the actions that are invoked when profile fields are saved, and hook on to those. It’s a little complicated because you aren’t told which fields have changed (just field groups), so you’ll probably also have to maintain previous value and compare to latest.
