Activity Stream Not Loading/Displaying

    This problem is actually two-fold, but has to do with the Activity Stream both times.

    Firstly, when the “Load More” button is clicked, nothing seems to happen. An initial hover shows a link to http://gratitudeexpressions.com/?actsc=2, and every time after the first click, it shows http://gratitudeexpressions.com/#more. I know there are many more posts because they are shown after I increase the per_page limit in the code.

    Then, on profile pages, the activity stream does not show at all, even after posting an update. If there truly are no updates by the user, it will show the “Sorry, there was no activity found.” message, but if there are updates, it doesn’t show anything. You can check http://gratitudeexpressions.com/members/plqbari/ as an example. This user has posted an update (and you can see it right under the username), but it doesn’t show up in the stream.

    I have checked for plugin issues; no dice. I have not manipulated code other than to change the “What’s New” text on activity streams and change some CSS and hide the Favorite button. I contacted the developer for the Buddy theme I’m running, and he helped me figure out the problem persists on other themes. I have been dealing with this issue for close to a week and am truly stumped!

    It happens on all themes. I’m primarily running the Buddy theme, which I thought might be causing the issue, but after switching to the default themed like Twenty Fifteen, the Load More issue was still happening.

    Can you check if it happens on Twenty Fifteen with all plugins deactivated? I’m testing on a fresh install of trunk and can’t reproduce the problem.

    Yes; just tested and still have the problem. In fact, it has the same problem as the profile pages, where nothing at all shows up. On Twenty Fifteen, the Load More button disappears after multiple clicks.

    I should add that, for that theme, I have to go directly to http://gratitudeexpressions.com/activity/

    Probably so, but since I can’t actually see the activity, I’m not sure.

    It also disappears on the Buddy (child) theme that I was using originally.

    The button disappearing has never happened on the front page Activity Stream, but like I said, it just never loads the older results. The first five activity items do display on the front page, which is more than I can say for profile pages or the Activity page itself.

    By “first five items,” I mean whatever “per_page” limit I have set for the activity stream. It was five by default, and I haven’t changed that other than to test to make sure there actually were more than five items to show (and there were).

    Strange that you’re seeing a difference between your front page and activity page. That could indicate there’s an issue with your templates. Which version of WP and BP are you using?

    WP Version 4.4.2
    BP Version 2.4.3

    I’ve uploaded some screenshots to an imgur album to give some clarity. You can see how the link changes at the bottom left of the first two images when I click “Load More.” You can also see that no updates show on the Activity page or profile pages. Profile does show the most recent update under the username, but nothing else, not even a button.

    Thanks for the screenshots. Those could be issues with the theme. I can’t reproduce the issue myself with Twenty Fifteen. Can you upload screenshots for Twenty Fifteen?

    Here are screenshots with the Twenty Fifteen theme. Deactivating all plugins (besides BuddyPress) does not affect how it appears.

    I had to go to each URL directly in order to bring up the pages. The “Load More” button disappears after four clicks.

    I used the WordPress Reset plugin today to see what effect that would have, and it fixed whatever was going on. It all works now. Thanks for the help in figuring out where the problem might have been! Still not sure what happened, but it’s all good now.
