Add a custom button to the admin bar

Hi,

I am really new to the whole buddypress/wordpress-mu scene, but have a quick question.

Would it be possible for my to add a simple anchor link to the adminbar without editing the core code?

Thanks for the reply. I have already had a look at doing this, but the whole event driven programming thing is confusing me a lot.

All that I want to do is add a single anchor link after the notifications item, I do not want to edit the items that are already there.
