Admin approval for public group membership, and listings

    Good evening everyone.

One of my client websites I am building was looking to have a large list of members for their organization and have them broken up into categories of what division they are a part of. Initially I was looking to use TablePress to chart them out, but it was suggested I use BuddyPress and allow the members to join groups, and list that way. So I have two things I would like to do if I do it this way:

    1) Admin approval – I would like to approve each member into groups and have those groups be publicly displayed. However, the public option I see allows anyone to join a group. The private group has the request to join element I want, but the content is private, which is not what I want. The hidden option is not what I need at all. Is there a way I can make a group publicly accessible as a read only unless a person is a member, then they can write, but they HAVE to be admin approved after requesting to join the group?

    2) Informational display – I would like to have a member chart-style display for every member within the individual groups. This might already be somewhat of an option with groups, but just checking here while I have your attention. I want people that view the website to be able to click on a group member list and see easily everyone that is in that group.

    Thanks!
