Comments on Group activities don’t use WP’s comment system. So forgot it.
The thing you can try is to use an extended editor (even if it is not intended for by default) or a group blog.
If discussions should be restrained to groups you could also use bbPress for a group forum.
Or try to integrate a Q&A plugin.
Thanks for the advice. Do you know how I could allow groups to choose if their forum is public or private?
I did play with creating a post for a group, then pulling in that posts comments / comment form to the group page. I guess if it automatically created a post for each group when a group is created it could work.
Once a group forum is activated, he inherits the group privacy setting.
If group is set to public, his forum is public. If group is private, the forum is private.
I’m not aware about post for group.

Hi! Is there a way to allow comments on a group home page? I added the comments_template() to it, but that doesn’t seem any use as groups don’t seem to have support for comments.
I don’t want to use the activity stream for this, and comments would be perfect for what I need (people asking questions to a group and the questions remaining public before deciding to join).
Groups have an ID so I hope it is possible. I would really appreciate any help.
