Allowing users to Favorite blog posts

I have Buddypress & bbpress installed on my community, and my members love Favoriting forum posts. Someone asked recently if there was a way to favorite blog posts, and I said no…

Then I realized, is there a plugin for that? Will there every be a way to favorite across a buddypress community? Of course I understand why you can fave a forum (bbpress) vs a blog post (buddypress), but my members don’t understand that they’re different tools… nor do I expect them to care.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I wrote custom functions.php code to do this last time I touched BP, a couple of years ago. I’m finding myself looking at BP again, and I’m certain my old code won’t work any more, but I’ll post it here if I get it working.
