Any way to limit the number of nested comments in activity stream?

    Hi,

    Is there a way to control the number of nested comments in activity threads? I tested this out and if I keep on replying to nested comments, the indentation looks ridiculous after 5 replies. I’ve tried it up to 10 and if I try to reply to the last one, the text input box disappears.

    WP: 2.9.2 Single install
    BP: latest version

    Is this a bug or can it be corrected?

    It’s not a bug. I can’t see any code in the core to control this, so it’d be custom.

    Would anyone know of a snippet of code which could be inserted in my custom.php file which would accomplish this?

    I believe that this is an oversight by the developers and there should be a setting for this, akin to WP’s nested comments options or simply turn nested comments off.

    If someone knows how to turn it off or a snippet of code to limit nested comments, please feel free to share.

    Same thing i just found out. Comments on comments are cool, but 100 nested lists in another 100 nested lists are not.
    Moving everything from comment to comment more to the right? I mean we have with screens but not entless pixels *lol

    I thing about how to make comments on comments visible in another way. Colours? Some ideas?

    solution is turn off nested commenting and keep only one level commenting :)!! i did it in one of my sites

    Facebook doesn’t nest for this very reason. It’s too much to read when you have a ton of comments. You can also remove it by altering CSS.

    Is there a way to minimize the comments. I would like my activity stream t show only the update until someone chooses to read more and then read the comments. I can’t seem to find anyway to do this. I am sure there is an answer but I think maybe I am not asking the right questions.
