Applying Default Buddypress Theme to Another Theme

I am trying to tackle styling of my site for the first time so am new to themes. I am using the Suffusion theme for its functionality, but it is lacking in style. I want to apply the styles of the Buddypress default theme to Suffusion and would like some general directions on how to best do this.
The most important part is to apply the Buddypress default post templates (Standard, Quotes, Images, Galleries) to my theme.
Should I do this by copying the Buddypress default CSS styles, or should I move page templates over to my child theme? Or do I need to do this element by element?
    Thanks for the advice!

This can only be explained as a huge job. You would need to know both CSS and HTML to achieve that. I’d suggest reading up on those two technologies if you’re just getting started. Some knowledge of PHP, JS and Ajax would be helpful too although you’d just need to know what parts of the templates are best to avoid messing with.
